We really enjoy our Elka Shocks!!!

As a passenger I have noticed the difference. Thanks to Len and CowTown for pointing us in the right direction and of course Trooper & crew at Elka for making a great product!!!

If you are thinking about getting them, do it!!! You won't regret it!!!

Len, if that is our Spyder, in the picture, you forgot all the lights!!!!

Spyderfest... be there or be square!!!

Looking forward to meeting all of our Spyder Friends!!

Couldn't agree more about Elkas or Cowtown

Just a lil (true) story to share.

Teds Red Sled came from Cowtown with Elkas already installed. Had stopped by my local dealer in Ohio, when a fellow Spyder RT owner just happened to stop by & he was check'n out Teds new Sled, since we had traded in our Timeless Black 2010 RT-S. Our buddy also has a 2010 RT-S with stock shocks. He noticed our nice Elkas & asked if they made that much of a difference? I told him to take Teds Sled for a ryde & he could decide for himself. He was gone for about 15 minutes & as soon as he walked back into the shop, he immediately yelled for the owner to get him a set on order right now:firstplace: True story folks & he's now luv'n his as much as we luv ours :firstplace:

About the only thing that's holding me back from getting Elka replacements for all three shocks is the complexity. I like things simple and these have so much adjustability that how would one know where to begin and end adjusting them?

John at ELKA, nickname Trooper will walk you through the process if need be. You shouldn't have to mess with the loading spring at all. The factory setting is generally spot on. There are 50 clicks of adjustments. Turn it until it is at the bottom and the you count your clicks up. For the average person that rides 2 up the sweet spot is at around 25 clicks. That will give you a nice tracking feel in the turns and it will be comfy when you have a passenger on the back. From there you can fine tune it a click or two at a time to get where you want to be. Good luck. They are the best!

If you get the Stage 1 shocks for the front, which is what most people get, you won't have to do any adjustments. They will come preset just for you after Elka gets your information. There are only two adjustments one is the preload and the other is rebound dampening. Both will come preset. Installation of the front shocks are not too difficult for anyone if you have a jack to lift the front end up. The rear shock is more difficult from what I have heard. I still have the original shock and will be upgrading to the Elka rear shock once this one wears out. Hopefully it will hold up till next Spyderfest.

Have to slightly disagree on this one. While they *should* come adjusted well for your weight and riding style, slight adjustments can make all the difference in the world. When I received mine they just seemed too bouncy. John from Elka adjusted them at Spyderfest and it made a HUGE difference. They are very easy to adjust, you just need to know what you're after. Mine came with detailed instructions on which adjustments do what.... I was just too lazy to mess with it before heading to Spyderfest.

John was even kind enough to adjust Seth's crappy Penske shocks for him.... ;)

I think it would be good for everyone to have a basic knowledge of proper adjustment so they can fine-tune them if needed.

After mine got adjusted, I gained plenty of speed in the twisties. Kept up with the Seth easily... despite his excuses of me crossing double yellows and something about clutch slippage........;) Guarantee I could not have run that well without the Elka's... and without them adjusted properly.

I stand corrected. I too had John change my rebound dampening at Spyderfest. My original setting was 20 clicks. John changed it to 25 clicks and now the tires seem to follow the terrain better on bumpy roads. However, the preload setting was correct for us.

Have to agree with Firefly on "tweaking" the Elka's for the type of feel and performance you want while riding. I had the front Stage 1's installed on my 2010 RT on Wednesday afternoon at Spyderfest and did the Rock Ride first thing Thursday. I noticed a definite improvement in handling with these new shocks, but felt that the shocks were just not set up ideally for the feel and performance that I was looking for. Discussed this with Trooper that afternoon and he made a minor adjustment to the shocks for me. We went on a passport run the next morning and all I can say is wow...we found the sweet spot that I was looking for and taking curves 2 up with the RT, at spirited speeds, was now doable.

Now that I am back from Spyderfest, in the land of no curves and more mundane speeds, I will back off on the the stiffness and enjoy a cushier ride.....until my next trip to a place that has great riding trails.
