• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ridingthe brakes

I suspected that I too was riding the brakes on my 2008 SE5 GS Spyder so I installed an LED on the dash that's tapped into the cable leading from the foot brake switch. Now when I press the brake pedal the bright blue LED lights up. Very visable. It turned out that I never was riding my brakes.

I think it's great idea, Arthur! (put this in the Mods forum)
This should become a standard feature, since so many had so many issues because of "riding the brakes" issue.
This light would help detect the sensor that is set too high as well, I would guess...

Elka Setup

I just had the Elka shocks installed on my 2010 RT-S and drove around to get a feel for the new shocks. Honestly, the Elka shocks didn't feel any different than the stock shocks, and I suspect that the setup is off. I weigh 190 lbs. and do mostly single recreational riding, and occasional 2-up riding for a total weight of 330 lbs. I ordered thru KewlMetal and gave them the weight and riding style info. If I am understanding the info that came with the shocks correctly, my shock are preset at 200-225 lbs. Is that the correct setup for me?

BajaRon has the right answer. Upside down?--I wonder what else the mechanics in the shop have messed up--on other bikes.

If I were them--I would be doing employee evaluations and make a large effort to right that wrong quickly.

I expect a dealership to know everything there is to know about performing repairs and installing BRP accessories on my Spyder. However, if you have your dealership install third party accessories it's going to be a crap shoot. This dealer probably never installed Elka shocks before so they just assumed the springs would go to the top like the stock shocks. This is no excuse though for installing them wrong. They should have read over the included instructions to make sure it was done correctly. This is why I do all my own upgrades.

My suggestion for you is to find the serial numbers on your shocks (located near the top mount) then get in touch with John from Elka (Trooper on this board). He can look up the production info on your shocks and answer your questions with authority. John did this for me at SpyderFest. To see the number on the shock clearly he stuck his cell phone up by the shock and snapped a picture of the number then made the call. Knew all there was to know in 5 minutes.

Sounds like a very good idea. Thanks.
