• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Elka rear shock

Hi all

Anyone have the rear Elka shock installed on there RTS ? If so does the Air Bladder still work ( still raises and lowers suspention )Going to get this done at Spyderfest as long as I can still adjust the firmness of the air bladder from the dash rocker switch .

The air bladder ( or air bag) and the shock absorber are two completely seperate units that work independantly of each other.

The airbag is designed to provide a firmer rear when adding a passenger or extra weight in the luggage compartments so the rear of the Spyder does not sag from the extra weight .

The shock absorber is there to provide a smoother ride over bumps and absorb impacts.

So the aswer is YES, you can still control the air bladder with an Elka shock....and you will LOVE IT !!! :) (sorry, had to throw that in there...couldnt resist.)

Will Elka or Cowtown be selling the new rear Elka shock for the RTS and providing installation at Spyderfest 2012? Will there be a Spyderfest special? If so I'll get in line for one.

As the famous philosopher, Kid Rock, once said. It ain't bragging -------- if you back it up!

And the fact is that the rear Elka Shock is head and shoulders better than the factory shock. ESPECIALLY on the 2010s like mine. nojoke

Just ordered mine from CowTown,Elka rear shock for the RTS 439.00 and a free pair of gloves valued at 65.00. Man what a great deal from a great dealership. Give them a call and ask for Sierra Sunshine ,so as not to be confused with Len, she's the pretty one.

Well, Len is pretty also...pretty cool, pretty awesome, pretty smart, pretty generous etc, etc.

Front shocks and springs stock verses elkas

On the 2012 rt does anyone know what the spring rate is on
the stock springs? Also what is the shock dampening valveing?
What is the specs on the Elka spring & shocks? While at it how
about the spring rate on the stock anti roll bar(sway bar) verses
the aftermart bar?

Thanks
Dan

Sorry, BRP publishes no specs for these componenets.

I didn't think they did because i could not find any info on these items.
Thought maybe Lamonster or Trooper may have checked the springs,
shocks & the bar & would know the info.I can take a spring & the bar
& rate those on my spring rater but would have to send the shock in
& have it checked on the shock dyno. Actually all i need to do is check
the bar size measure the effective bar length & the arm length then in
less than a minute have the rate on that bad boy. Hope you guys know
that with the coilover assembly layed over as much as it is that softens
the spring & shock a whole bunch on a linear spring. On a progressive
rate spring it doesn't loose quite as much rate. Maybe Trooper or someone
at Fox has rater the springs & shocks.

Thanks
Dan
