• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Yikes..!!

They haven't even made their own vehicle and now their makeing others...:roflblack::roflblack: don't think Toyota put their stamp on this..:roflblack:

I wonder if Toyota knows that the U.S. government outsourced it's quirky auto-car to Elio Motors.

Here are some links related to this topic. The legislation is only proposed right now so there is a long way to go before it's passed into law.

A couple of articles.
http://www.wired.com/2015/03/new-rules-make-three-wheeled-cars-actually-safe/
http://www.autoblog.com/2015/03/16/federal-regulation-three-wheeled-autocycles-report/#image-8 This one has pics of the Toyota i-Road.

The i-Road is an electric vehicle. Here's more info about it. http://www.autoblog.com/tag/toyota+i-road/

Here is a proposed "Best Practices" guideline developed by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.

http://www.aamva.org/3WheelVehicleBP/

If these rules are adopted we will see the Spyder officially designated as a motorcycle while the Slingshot, i-Road, and Elio, will all be labelled "Autocycle". Obviously a whole lot more people than just SL members are wondering about how to define, license, and regulate 3 wheelers like the Slingshot.

There is so much mis-information out now about the Elio that it is hard to separate fact from fiction. Elio motors continues to get press releases printed and they end up as articles on places like Yahoo and Google. The latest was they finally got their engine fired up for tests. Meaning, they don't even have a viable engine for their car yet.

The article also stated that production will be in 2016. Its always a year or two down the road from the current time.

Elio building for Toyota...Not likely in this world. :roflblack:

Like that Bob !!

I actually have one reserved. I'm still waiting too, but not holding my breath til I see them coming off the production line. :banghead:

Pushed til 1st quarter 2016 now. We will see. We will see. :(

It will be my cold and wet or icy driving vehicle. Otherwise I will be on the Spyder.

Curious..!!

Did you all get the T-shirt or does that come with the "Autocycle"..:roflblack:..??

What i see

:banghead:Elio couldn't meet the safety regs so put in for whole new class all toogeather they will beat sling shot off bat with seat-belts and cab. Air bags so they will get to set the bar as $$$as they want.:roflblack: Hopefully it will leave the spyders and trikes without cabs classed as bikes but knowing politicians will screw it up. I suggest joining local abate chapter and show of force by sheer list of names:bowdown:

Yesterday Elio announced an investment offer for people who have over $2 million in assets and a family income over $300,000. Elio is accepting investments of $15,000 and more. By my calculation, Elio needs 10,000 such investors to raise $150 million. Do you think Elio can convince 10,000 people to make that investment?

Well; P.T. Barnum once made the observation that, "There's a sucker born every minute." Give them 10,000 minutes, and who knows what Mr. Elio will find? :D

As I see it..!!

Trikes and reverse trike as well as bikes with or without side cars are safe in the motorcycle catagory. We strattle the saddle, we hang on to bars and are open air. Those with seats you sit in and strap yourself in, drive with a steering wheel and have an enclosed body have a problem. Don't think they could muck that up (then again) but they may want to split the trikes and sidecars off from motorcycles..:dontknow:

Wow! That is some brass _ _ _ _ s on the part of Elio. It is apparent that the real investors are staying away in droves.

At least he is not going after the people on SS and willing to bet the farm on a shaky investment.

Stay tuned. We just may hear the whole Elio story on American Greed in a couple of years.

D,
Have you kept track of their "Timeline of delays..."?

I have been closely following the Elio story since day one. I cannot quote chapter and verse, but the delay started at day one. The bottom line, production is always a year or two out from the current time.

I am probably known to the owner of the company for my public statements, financial analysis, and overall concern about the potential consumers of the product. Another here, is in the same boat.

Thanks. I still hope that they're able to bring their product to the market...
Just for the new jobs that it would help to create...

I have not been keeping records of the delays....

one thing I did was determine the number of people that are legally allowed to invest. It is the top 1% of all earners. Only 1.8 million households in the US have assets in excess of $2 million--counting EVERYBODY.
