• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Elio Motors

Elio

reminds of the DeLorean, real snazzy and I almost bought one, but by the time it came out the technology had advanced and he got caught in a financial bind and tried to sell dope and got caught........
If I had money to burn, Volkswagen stock might be better....:yikes:

This reminds me of a company called ZAP motors and the ZAPX they were taking deposits on back in 2007.
[h=1]The ZAP-X Electric Crossover - 155mph, 644 bhp, AWD, 10 minute recharge, 350 Mile Range[/h]

They got thousands of people to invest 1-5 grand per crack, that was about 8 years ago, and now they have faded away.

If it sounds too good to be true it is. :banghead:

:D But wouldn't it be GREAT, if they actually DID make it to the market??? :D

The Elio continues to be an interesting subject. Yes, its off topic and is like the in-between version of the Chinese :ani29: and the BRP :spyder2:. All have three wheel configuration and then become three entirely different vehicles once we look past the Y configuration.

We have discussed pros and cons almost to death. A couple of us even analyzed the company from a financial and cost accounting status. Both, in the past and currently, the numbers just don't seem to add up.

A few of us tried to convince others not to put up deposits--but Elio now claims that there are about 75,000 of them out there. That's a great start up if it flies. One of the most vocal on-line proponents bought a Slingshot for now.

Most of the statements that I and others have made, continue to hold true years after being made. The production times keep moving a year ahead. Most recent prediction by Elio was last week when the article about Prototype #6 was mentioned on the internet. The company manages to get marketing promotions (press releases) printed on slow days--so the subject keeps popping up.

I am still saying--show me the beef.

A thread about Elio Motors. Hmmmmmmm
I wonder what kind of oil they use ?
It would also be interesting to discuss the best tires for the Elio.
I think what you really meant:
I wonder if they will ever be produced?
that about sums up your post:roflblack:

Yes; I do!

It just seems a bit too exposed to be a scam.

I agree, it seems like an unlikely goal, but I don't think the principals are malicious, just misguided.

I'm reminded of the Tucker.

Of course, I could be wrong, and I'm sure someone here will be letting me know if I am.

I completely agree, and I'm one of the ones that put my deposit down 2 years ago.
I didn't look at this as an investment I looked at it like a gamble

Stefan,
I'm STILL hoping that your gamble pays off...
The Elio does look like a great little Urban Transport Critter... :D
It's just that there have been too many failures of this nature; to really get us too excited (yet!)

There was also an article on the I-net yesterday. Trying to raise $25 million so he can build 25 prototype cars. It appears that all of this (Elio) is based on one or two mock up models. At this point in time--they should be way past prototype.

My question--after all these years--and the most recent announcement that the new Elio's will roll off the assembly line in late 2016--where is the beef.
