Electronics on handlebars (smartphones)

I learned that mounting electronics on the handlebars doesn’t do them any good. For years I’ve mounted my GPS or smartphone to the dash. Still do.

It is something to think about. I wonder about the difference in vibration levels between the older style RT bars and the newer versions. The newer round style bars make it far easier to mount to the bar itself, not just the center.

I've always avoided mounting my phone on either handlebar for this very reason. Between the handlebars or on the dash seems a less risker mounting spot.

Mounting to the center is not as bad as mounting nearer to the extremities like the area next to the switch cluster. Round or whatever shape bars are still going to vibrate.

I've used a wire rope isolator along with a perfect squeeze phone mount for several years now and not had any problems with my iPhone camera so far, knock on wood.

I've always mounted in between the bars. Never had a problem.
