• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Electronic Trunk (Frunk) Release Contact Missing After Dealer Service

SilverSurfer

RT-S PE#0391
Hey Gang ...

About three weeks ago, I got my Spyder RT-S back from the shop; then two weeks ago, rode it for a shakedown ride. The weather's still been pretty cold and wet here in Maryland, so it's taken some time to get to the bottom of matters (getting bike uncovered and out of storage, etc).

Two weeks ago during the shakedown ryde, I noted my electronic Frunk release wasn't working, but I had to re-store the bike pending inclement weather so I didn't have time to explore. I did call the dealer on the matter and they told me to bring it back in when I could and they'd make it right.

This past weekend, I opened the frunk and IMMEDIATELY noted that the little electrical contact clip assembly onto which the post on the inside of the trunk rests in the closed position is MISSING :yikes: !! This is why the remote release doesn't work.

The Spyder was in the shop for its DPS recall and they also had to fix my water pump, then re-fill with coolant; also a 6K service. I don't know how much of the Spyder they took apart, but when I went to look for the 'clip,' for the electrical contact, it was gone. It doesn't look like it was broken or torn off ... It looks like it was removed. The little bracket that I believe holds it was clean as a whistle, with no scratches on it.

Does anyone know what the assembly is called that forms that clip or contact for the remote electronic frunk release? I'm trying to find it in the BRP parts catalogue. I need to identify this to my dealer so they can replace it. Also, I can't even find a dangling wire (adding to my belief that it was removed, and they forgot to put it back). Where does this little switch connect? Again, I need a pointer to all the nomenclature and part numbers that make the electronic remote trunk release work.

one has to be careful when removing cover to get to the coolant reservour ask me how i know. its easy to break the switch:(
