• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

electrical plug hooked to seat

What is this electrical plug that is connected to the bottom of the passenger seat?

The passenger ejector seat switch...
You can trigger it by hitting the CB's "push to talk" button... :D

Actually; it's the switching that changes the braking bias, when a passenger is detected on the seat...

That's the same thing my dealer told me but I can not believe him. Now that Bob Denman confirmed it I guess it really is the ejector seat activation module.

 that didn't tickle... :yikes:

Not nice. You should not have shared this with everyone. That was a need to know option. It's the wife ejection seat if she doesn't let you buy more farkles for the Spyder.

Don't believe everything you read

Actually every one is wrong. That wire connects to a widget module that controls the air pressure in the air adjustable rear tire tread distortion discombobulating widget wobbulator.
i.e., it keeps the tire from rubbing on the hardware above it.

plus it functions to compensate for the PSI compensator device offset when the passenger sits down or climbs on. My spouse says it is very rude suggesting that she weighs more then 2 pounds.

Ejector seat switch? If you all want the wife off you should just stand up and tell her to get off the bike!

Be prepared for the consequences though!!!!!!!!!! :yikes:

Bob, can you explain what/how "braking bias" works?

Probably; but you might want to double-check with somebody who knows for sure...
When that switch in the seat detects extra weight (The passenger), it figures that there's more weight up and over the rear wheel. It can then have the rear brake handle more of the braking chores, so it adjusts the front-to-rear bias.
(The rear brake will handle a greater percentage of the total braking power)
Does that help? ;)

Take the Boa Ski, and ride into Town for a "McLunch"... you'll be back before Glo knows that you're gone...
I always figured that if I've got to "watch my weight; I ought to get it out front, where I can see it real well first! :roflblack:

It isn't an ejector seat wire.
But you guys are sort of right that it has something to do with the VSS.

The wire is actually connected to a set of digital scales, one for the passenger and one for the driver.
Each time you get on the Spyder it weighs you.

Starting in the 2014 year if the Spyder detects a weight gain of over 2.6% for the driver or 3% for the passenger the safety warning on startup is changed to read "Perhaps you should walk." You will, for the time being, be able to over-ride this by answering a few simple dietary questions designed to help reduce your food intake.

If you have the optional Triaxis handlebars, the Spyder gauges your height based on the handlebar position and then the startup message also includes your current BMI and how that compares with the current ideal.

2015 will see this expanded to suggested caloric intakes as well as some other special features that have not been released.

Good information. :yes::yes::roflblack:
