• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Electrical Issue/Battery

Well the battery tender worked well and the RT started this morning so thanks to the help of Lamont and George.

I will check the terminals on the battery for loose connection also as the light on the tender has not changed to fully charged yet. Maybe 24 hours is not enough for full charge, but I was able to remove the tender and start the RT this morning.
It's back on the tender for now to see if it will change to full charge/trickle charge auto mode.

Took a nice little ride. Hard to be cold on the spyder unless really cold out. mid 30's when I rode with lined jacket and flannel lined pants. Comfortable for the few miles I rode.
Missed the spyder more than I thought since the last ride. Maybe more rides this week with temps in the 40's to maybe 50.
Twenty-four hours should be plenty to charge the battery, although it could take longer if the battery was completely depleted. The most common cause for the light not indicating a full charge, is loose or corroded connections...either at the charger cable (especially with alligator clips), or at the battery. Cleaning and tightening the connections is the usual cure. If that fails to rectify the problem, the battery is probably compromised, and will eventually need replacement.

I had the 12 volt adapter installed on my RS...My question...can I charge the battery with a tender thru this...or is it just hot while the spydie is running?

No, it is a switched power outlet...unless your dealer hooked it to the unswitched accessory wiring at your request. If you look in the fusebox to see where the 3 amp accessory fuse is installed, you will know if it is switched or not. The RT power outlet (and wiring for an optional front outlet) is unswitched...hot all the time.

Thanks for the clarification Scotty...the dealer did in fact install it on a separate fuse line at my request...Much appreciated...Larry

Like Scotty says, 24 hours should do it. I would leave it on for 48 hours and if still not green, you may have damaged your battery and be thinking of replacing it. Naturally, it only quits when you are ten miles from nowhere....

For you motorhome owners, I have Battery Tenders on my "house batteries" and my engine battery 24/7 during the non use periods. This is very cheap insurance compared to buying new deep cycle batteries for replacement....

Sometimes, I don't why it does this :dontknow:but if the charged [green] light doesn't turn on when the charger has been on long enough to fully charge the battery,
Turn the ignition key on for a few seconds then turn it off. And see if that doesn't trigger the charged light to turn on.
