• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Electric Windshield Stopped Working (RT model)

GVW23

New member
I have a 2011 RT-S with 1,750 miles and the electric windshield stays in a fixed position.:gaah:

Could this be just a fuse or something else?
(I tried to locate the fuse for the windshield and could not pin point which one it is)
Everything else works just fine.

Has anybody had this issue? Suggestions?

THANK YOU!

Question: Have you washed your bike recently and perhaps gotten a bit of water into the switch? (It's unlikely...)
I'd have to think that Roger is giving you the best directions in which to look; perhaps a stop at your dealership is in order...
Good Luck; please let us know what is found!

Long shot & I mean no disrespect, but here's another option to check ................

Have you checked your center dog-bone shaped wind-shield support to make sure it isn't broken in half:dontknow:

We also have a 2011 RT-S and are now on our 3rd support. They are just cast aluminum and many have developed cracks, which ultimately leads to a complete break.

If it were to break, the shield would make no movement when the button is pushed, but the top portion of the shield would actually be leaning against the top of the dash console, so I think that would make it really noticeable if this was your problem  Just throwing another option to double check out there for you.

Good luck, and let us know what it ends up being ;)

Here's a link to a thread Warning ALL RT Owners what to keep an eye out for.
http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...-*-You-may-want-to-check-this-on-your-machine

And out of my own curiousity, at this years Owners Event, I was able to check 17 different RT Dog-Bone supports, and out of those 17, 6 actually had visible cracks in them, so this is alot more widespread than I think BRP was thinking it was. I gave my local dealer this information, and he said he'd pass it along BRP :dontknow:
:shocked:Here's what to look for

Check fuse F3 and Main Relay 2...easiest way is to check if the parking brake works. If those are OK, you could have a bad windshield motor or a faulty windshield/parking brake module (WPM) or a faulty multifunction control...or just a bad connection somewhere.

.. it works only when the engine is started ;)

Thank you everyone for the input!

It's always worked before and I know it has to be started for it to work.

I looked @ the center pillar there and did not notice any cracks (and the windshield is still upright).

It must not be the fuses either since all other gauges work including the same relay used with the parking break.

Solution: It might be the motor or my guess it's probably a loose wire somewhere hmmm
