• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Electr. help with heated pass. grip

I have a base RT. I recently installed the heated passenger grips on it for my girlfriend. However, after putting everything back together, I realized that the heat doesn't work (should'a not put it all back together). First thing I noticed is that most of the switches on the RT are back lit. The heat switch is completely dark; no indicator lights or anything on the switch itself. The switch has three wires, two hot leads and a ground. The two hot leads are getting power to the switch. I am guessing that once the high power button is hit, I should be getting power coming out of the ground (black wire), but nothing is happening. I am about to do an Ohm check on the actual grip, but I can't help but think it's the switch itself. If you have a 2010 RT with heated passenger grips, can you confirm for me that the switch is supposed to have some kind of illumination please. Thanks.

I have a 2011 RTS Limited and the passengers switch has a light that comes on ( 2 bars for high and 1 bar for low ) when the passenger turns it on .

grips

Is someone sitting on the back seat when you try it ? I believe the rear seat switch must be made to allow the grips to work .

I'm not sure about someone having to be on the passenger seat. I did test it this way (with me on the passenger seat gripping the handles) and it seemed to not be working. I know that the 2011 has two LEDs on it, but the 2010 apparently did not. I asked my parents to demonstrate on their 2011 and one side warms up before the other (but it didn't take all that long) but on my own Spyder, the grips never seemed to heat up at all. Thank you for stating the wire colours for me.
John S,

You were right

If I was smart, I just would have measured voltage getting to the grip (to see if there was any). Also, now that you've told me that the passenger grips don't get quite as warm and take a while, I can say that the grips on my Spyder are in fact working. Thank you for describing how the heat works on your Spyders.
