• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HP and TQ don't really go hand in hand... if one goes up, doesn't mean the other one will automatically go up as well.

HP and torque absolutely go hand and hand. Kind of odd to see people strugging with this, basic equation:

HP = Torque x RPM / 5252

You can increase horsepower by increasing rpm. However, if torque drops so will horsepower. 300 lb-ft at 5000 rpm = 285 horsepower. 200 lb-ft at 6000 rpm = 228 horsepower

Based on this equation (which I know it very well), you can clearly see that the HP is dependent on TQ and RPM. TQ by itself is not enough to drive HP up.
In other words "at any given RPM" TQ does not necessarily needs to go up as well. HP will still be going up even when TQ drops because of the higher RPMs.

There are tons and tons of dyno sheets out there that you can Google by yourself and you see TQ dropping in higher ranges of RPMs but HP still goes up... because of the multiplication between TQ and RPM.

Well, technically we are still talking about HP and torque curves. And that's what the ECU flash does.



At least we're not arguing air speed velocity between African and European swallows and their ability to carry coconuts! :-D
 
When horsepower goes up at any given RPM ie 5000 rpm you had to have had a subsequent increase in torque at 5000 rpm or you would not have more horsepower....... Especially looking at the posted dyno chart you can clearly see an increase in horsepower at most rpm until it reaches 7400+

But is actual torque any better? Higher torque is way better than HP.

The one says "higher RPM limit". That's dangerous! You could BLOW an engine exceeding manufacturer's determined MAX safe RPM!

On my Harley, I had the rev delimiter firmware download right after I purchased it. I was worried about it being dangerous to the engine, but I never blew it up. I never had it done on my Road King and it seemed like whenever I needed the extra power when jumping out and passing, it wanted to bog down. My Softail had no limit on it after the firmware download. Just saying. To be honest with you, I have not put but a couple hundred miles on my new Ryker Rally and I have yet to see an instance where I need any more power. This thing jumps forward from 50-60mph like it had been sitting still. At least it seems that way. It's weird not having to down shift or have it go into a passing gear to pass.
But, everyone has their reason for modifying the speed and torque. I respect that, and feel that if you have the money to possibly throw away if you damage your machine, then go for it. You won't get any judgement from me.
