Easy risers

[Questions]

Just finished installing a set of the ESI Easy Risers by Street Magic. I am not real handy, but went slow and read the instructions a couple of times before I tore into it. Took me an hour and forty five minutes, and all went very well. Nice product and i love it....most anyone can do this, just read the instructions and have the right tools....

3 1/2 hours later..... the risers are on, but the bike is not put together. You name it, it went wrong!!! :cus::cus::cus::cus::cus::cus::cus::cus:

First I can't find a flashlight (mind you there are at least 3 at my house) to save my life. Then the pipe cutter breaks. My dad came over with his, but we still had to cut one of the handlebars with a hacksaw. Then the grips would NOT go back on (finally got them....). Lost one of the little rubber thingys that go into the handle. Had to glue a cap on the left side. :gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah: It's just not my day........

At least I did not screw up the electronics!! Before we used the loctite on the bolts, I started her up and revved it (works just fine). Put it in reverse and backed up a little (again, works). The lights and everything work as well!! I somehow lost my 2nd key (it's in this blasted house somewhere!!!!) today too.

Now I just have to put it back together tomorrow and give her a test run!!! So far, so good!! And yes, I did check to make sure the cables aren't pulling too tight!! At least part of it went well!!!!

hey vamp, make sure your throttle cables are not in a bind at all. i just did my risers last week. when testing at full left lock they wanted to hang up a little and not return. check and dbl. check so everything is as free as it can be.:clap:

You're probably right!!! I have a "catch all" counter (don't we all....). It's probably there---with the flashlight!!

Checked that and checked it again!!! I read through the forums and made sure I followed that one!!! :2thumbs:

Glad to have provided some comic relief here!!! LOL!!!! This kind of thing ALWAYS happens to me when I try to fix or upgrade things!! I'm beginning to think that if there isn't some blood spilled (not on this particular job.....yet.....) it doesn't qualify as a "project" around my house!!!!

Be careful putting things back together, there is still room for some blood loss until you are done.

All done!! Took her out for a spin, everything works fine! No cable problems at all!! And no blood loss either!!! :clap:

Glad I decided to get the risers in the first place! What a difference! Makes for a completely different ride!

And I did find the spare key. Next to my helmet where I put it.... DUH!!!

I once was giving a bid to a customer, and asked him if he wanted to do some of the work himself, and he told me "his best tool was his checkbook." As I get a little older, I find that thought very helpfull sometimes.....

Glad to hear it ended all so well! I've got the very same project in two days. One thing I've learned over the years is that on a bad day nothing looks so good as tomorrow! Thank you for sharing your experience as painful and frustrating as it was.
