• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. East Coast ride

Leaving out from Mississippi Sunday afternoon to head to the east coast for a week long trip. Plans are to travel to Savannah, up to Charleston, Wilmington, NC, hit the Outer Banks, then over to Williamsburg, VA. Will head back home from there and plan on taking Skyline Drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway.... My question is are there any must-do, must see, must eat along the way. There will be 6 in our group, 2 Spyders with me and Spyder601. What you got?

Sounds like a great trip. The whole Blue Ridge Parkway is a "must see" IMHO. I love that part of the country. Watch out for deer, as they are NOT afraid of humans, and are everywhere. Also speed limits are strictly enforced by the rangers.

Also, the places mentioned in this current thread are great to visit and not too far off your path. I'm sure others who live near those areas you mentioned will chime in with more specific recommendations of things to see and do along your route. Enjoy your trip.

You are going on an adventure that I would love to do. I am not certain about other areas, but I can speak on some of the NC parts of the trip. If you are attempting to do the full length of the Outer Banks, keep in mind that you will need to get a ferry ride. You will need to check their schedule and make sure that there is room for you and your friends. You can purchase your spots in advance, and you should show up about an hour early.
Once you get to the BRP, there is just too much to see. I am not much for back tracking, but when you are heading south towards Little Switzerland, take the time to do the Diamondback loop. I think that is 226A. After that, continue down the BRP until you get to Mt. Mitchell (might as well go check out the highest point on the east coast). As you continue south, you can get off in Maggie Valley and visit the Wheels through time museum if you are into old and all types of motorcycles. As for the rest of your trip, you will just have to see how time allows. Have fun.

USS North Carolina in Wilmington if you're in to WWII ships. Several good places to eat on the waterfront. Front Street Brewery is a good place to eat. Also in Charleston, Patriot Point. USS Yorktown, along with other ships and a submarine. Don't miss the Vietnam support base either. Of course the Battery is a must see as well.

Outer Banks, many good places to eat. Weeping Radish is a very good German restaurant and brew house. It's in Grandy, NC. Right along Rt.12.

Enjoy your trip.

The Dragon??

If your doing the BRP and Ashville you gotta do the "Tail of the Dragon" . Even if only to say to all of us who've done it that you did it.

We did the Dragon on a rented Goldwing. Two up on a BIG bike I was not used to. I think it would be a real hoot on a :spyder2:.
