• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

E087 GAS

No improvement in MPG with non-ethanol??

Strange! I have gotten a minimum improvement of a 10% in MPG in every vehicle I have tested after the second fill-up with non-ethanol.

Good point. Second fill up or even third. You will not notice a difference with just one tank full.

Gasoline produces more energy than ethanol . . . I always get better MPG when I use ethanol free gas . . . unfortunately, the only stuff near me is 87 octane . . . I have to ride 45 miles to get "high-test!"

Would you care to speculate on why that might be true?

No need to speculate, there is less energy in a gallon of ethanol than in the same volume of gasoline. Remove the ethanol and your mileage will improve.

As far as comments about engine safety, every engine built in at least the last three years is designed to burn 10-15 percent ethanol with no damage. This includes the fuel lines and elastomeric seals.

I am not suggesting I am a fan of it, frankly the whole ethanol for fuel industry is a sham. We use corn that could be exported at a profit to produce ethanol at a loss, with lower energy efficiency and damage to older engines and equipment. Read the reports on the disaster ethanol played in marine fuel tank sludge and tank failures. The statement made earlier in this thread is correct - it takes more energy to produce a gallon of ethanol than you get from its combustion. We also subsidize farmers to grow corn instead of other crops with a higher profit margin.
