There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. E-Z Pass on F3

Anyone have a PA Turnpike E-Z Pass transponder mounted on their F3? I just got a new transponder as I will be riding my F3 on the turnpike some and I'm not sure where I should mount it. I would like to mount it in the front trunk but I wasn't sure if it would register from there... Anyone with any experience?

:agree: Throw it in your top jacket pocket...
You don't even have to take it out: they can read it!

(Although I DID stuff mine up in the nose of my RT...)

My Ez-Pass worked well when mounted inside the Gauge Spoiler, and also on the Madstad. Otherwise you can keep it in a passport holder around your neck!

Frunk

My PA EZpass is mounted on the underside of the frunk lid using the Velcro that comes with the transponder.... Works great.

Huh! You wouldn't think so.. In NYC if it failed to open gate, you would draw an angry mob..

 I could just never get it to stick to the underside of the Frunklid. It kept ending up on the floor... :banghead:

I had the same problem, so I went online to the WV EZPass web site and ordered another set of the special "Velcro" like fasteners they use - and added them - with four of the things, it holds well.

Thank you all for the awesome responses! Looks like I will be giving the front trunk a try. I have the motorcycle version... which is a little smaller than the pictures some of you posted, but hopefully they work the same way.

A thought...

I stopped at my Dealer today, and popped the Frunklid on an F3-Limited...
(BEAUTIFUL bike!)
The back wall of the frunk has quite a large flat, vertical area... Why not try mounting it there?
It's right between the fuse boxes...

I tried mounting my EZ Pass under the frunk lid and inside the glove box. Neither triggered the reader on the Bear Mountain Bridge. The kind and patient attendant there explained that different readers are of different strengths and orientations (he suggested turning the device 90 degrees under the frunk lid on my next try). I didn't bother as each time I created a long angry line behind me as we waited to get the gate open. Instead I mounted it in a more conventional arrangement on the inside of the windshield, works every time. Takes 2 seconds to pop in the glove box which I get into anyway to mount my GPS. Not any trouble.

However I wish BRP and other bike manufacturers would get smart and created a guaranteed readable spot in the bike to mount such transponders where it can be locked up like a car is and not need to be mounted and removed (listening BRP?) I like to use my Spyder to tour and often hit toll roads. Would be nice to have a preset workable location.

I assume it's like this in every state, but if your plate is registered, they will just deduct the money from your account. I got on the EZ Pass lane by mistake on my Spyder and they just deducted from account when they went to look up the plate.

Motorcycle version

Chris, if you go through the hassle of it, there is a version for ny that is discounted for motorcycles. It's like half price? I have the motorcycle transponder and have tried a few different spots for the location. So far the only working one was in my pocket and hand held when I drive through. I just yesterday added a couple new pieces of Velcro to dash board in hopes our caravan to Springfield will yield better results.

By the time you get to WV, you should be out of tollbooth country. I'm going to bring mine for the ride back since I will have to take the PA toll road when we go through Ohio.
