• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

so a friend of mine talked me into racing against his 96 zx9 today. when i was coming home i shifted from 4th to 5th and instead of the 5g for 5th gear it said eg. so i down shifted and shifted back to 5th and it said 5g. has anyone ever seen the eg? everything is fine with the bike as far as i can tell. oh and i lost but not by much. spun the tire a good 100-150 feet before it bit. just in case anyone was wanting to know. we ran the 1/4 mile.

So when you ran him; how hard did you flog your :spyder2:? SE5 or SM5?? I think that retread has hit it on the nose...
Good luck and let us know what you find!

Oh... Since this was a race I guess that I should assume that shirtsleeves were rolled up, hats were on; brims to the back, and the women and children were sequestered a safe distance away... :D
Were you shifting normally, but at a higher rpm or did you look for every millisecond that might be there? Could something in your shifting processes gotten a bit out of "timing"?
I'm not sure how to explain "flog", other than maybe "abuse just a little..."

nope i had helmet, jacket, gloves, pants and boots on. nobody else was around. just me and my buddy. About shifting, i never hit the red line on the bike always shifted before i got there. i mean the bike works fine, sounds fine, shifts fine, it just happened that one time on the way home. so i dont know. if it does it again i will be taking it the shop and getting it checked out.

It does sound like a "have somebody who's seen the inside of these things take a peek at it"...:D
Oh! and I hope you didn't think that I was getting on you for running your Spyder hard... I figured out a better way to describe "Flog"
I had a Yamaha Grizzly 660 (ATV) before the Spyder bug bit... There was a certain mudhole on my folks' property that required a little more force than finesse to cross... (two feet deep mud and a couple of buried trees!) Every once in a while (Most of the time!), I'd get in that hole and have to use every bit of that Grizzly's might to claw to the other side without resorting to winches... it wasn't pretty :yikes: THAT'S flogging... :D

:agree:ROFLMBO!! Aw....Memories
Loved our Grizzly! :D Can't count how many times we hit the infamous "ain't gonna make it" mudhole, just to show 'em we could.......and then we couldn't, lol. :roflblack::roflblack:
Yup, that was flogging!!

no didnt think you were gettin on to me about it. i was just putting that up for others that might say something about it. if i run the bike i am most of the time as careful as i can be for what i am doing with it. if that makes sense.

Race

Had a similar situation yesterday, but not really a race. Coming home from a Memorial Day celebration, I was a few miles from home. A "good ole boy" in a Chevy Silvarado pickup with the loud mufflers (we used to call them glasspacs in my day) was teasing me for a few miles, roaring his engines, gunning it, etc. I know he probably only had a 350 in the truck.

Stopped at the last light before a long stretch he in front of me. He roared away. I stayed right on his bumper like an anoying little fly (or should I say :spyder2:). At 70 (still in 2nd gear by the way) I backed off.

Bet he didn't tell his buds he lost to a little 3 wheeled creature with an old fossel in a flag shirt riding it.

Where is our Performance Testing Operators and troubleshooters when you need them?!?:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: HEY DOC!!! You are needed!!:D

I get the E along with a check engine light, and flashing "R" and "N" lights, as well as the mystery P0707 code. Its getting worse, but did get the dealer to order a GPS for me.
Problem seems to be at its worst on HOT days wen the engine is all heated up.
I know there was a recal for these GPS's on the SE5, so it seems tro be appearing now on the early SM5s as well.

ok so it is still messing up. i rode it to town tonight and on the way home it switched gears but it didnt register on the display so i down shifted and up shifted and it still didnt register. then the neutral and reverse lights started blinking n,r,n,r,n,r then the nanny kicked in. so i pulled over down shifted back to 1st and started over and it worked fine the whole 15 miles home.
