• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DUMB QUESTION

does anybody know how many spyders there are to right now?

Not a dumb question at all, but no one will know the answer except for BRP, and they are not talking. BRP has a reputation for secrecy about production numbers, whether it is ATVs, Seadoos, Skidoos or Spyders.

My dealer said a while back that BRP had expected to sell 1,500 Spyders worldwide in the first year, but were at about five times that amount at the time. Don't know how true it is, but it was about a month ago, before the SE5s started landing.

Talk about secerts, Honda built there Rune's in 04 and a few in 05. orginally there was supposed to be 1 per dealer, and some dealers were suprised when the received a second when they hadn't sold the first one. the general thinking is there were somewhere between 3000 and 3500 some have said as few as 1400. Honda won't say. Talked to Honda employees at the Homecoming who worked on them. They don't know or wont say, there are still a few new ones at dealers. But are just about all gone. I got mine with 1 mile on it and a 3 year warranty in January about $11,000 less than they were in 2004.

2500 spyders

I heard from my dealer who is very active with can am. since its all they sell and service. They told me 2500 so far this year. They say the goal for next year is double or more.

It has to be way more than 2,500. In April, the official BRP statment said there were 2,589 Premiere Editions, 800 dealer/tour units and 550 international ones. That's almost 4,000 and since then, they have to have sold another 2,000 - 3,000.

Yes, this sounds like a pretty good estimate.

Yup - you're right on all accounts. It's pretty easy to estimate from using those numbers.

They for sure have 2589 PE , 800+ dealer-tour and 500+ worldwide demos.

I would safely say the bare minimum is 6,000 and a max of 9,000 right now. I would center in around 7,500 if I were betting on it.

Let's see, five times 1,500 equals... Maybe my dealer wasn't just boasting.
