• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dudley and Jennifer's 10,000 Mile Journey Blog

In a couple of hours or so, we will be leaving Seattle for home. Don't have anyone along I-5 that has expressed wanting to meet us and sign the banner, so unless we do, we are just going to ride home. Had to change both tail lights yesterday. That was a trip! With the I-7 GIVI bags set-up and the sport rack, it takes a lot of patience. BRP could have made it a bit easier by giving us more room to get to the bulb base to remove it without undoing any screws holding the lense. As it was, I could never find the second screw. Had to kind of twist the lense and have help to get the bulb base off. But, it's done...2 new bulbs. Got a 2-pack of 1157 bulbs from NAPA for less than $2...the OEM bulb is $12.95! I then decided to check the license plate bulb. It had a hole in it about the size of the tip of my pinky! So I changed it also. That was a lot easier than the others!

8-10 Report

We have stopped at Roseburg, OR for the evening...405 miles for the day. We were able to spend about 3 hours with our younger daughter and our granddaughter. Had a nice quiet time, and went to eat lunch. We left Seattle under dreary cloud cover, but no rain on us. Finely got sunshine just before Oregon state line. All in all, was a great day. Tomorrow we hope to leave a little earlier than usual and see how far we can go.
We had hoped to meet a Spyder Ryder from Lacey, WA, but couldn't connect.
If you have noticed, we have colored our last state traveled on this journey. In all, including, our home state of California, we have traveled into 34 states since June 21, 2009. Also traveled into were 3 Canadian Provinces.

Well, Dudley gave the run down of the day. Just went to stretch our legs and I will post a few pictures soon, not much to see since we only kind of hung around. Not that there's anything wrong with just hanging around.
Saw hills, fields, trees, valleys, seed and turf farms, horses, llamas or alpaca, cows and what we thought was smoke from forest fires (was something else). Had sunshine and I got to shed a jacket. Was 62 this morning and went up to 84; how's that? Did have wind which was the only gripe.
Been a blast but we are headed down I-5 south and SOUTH means we are going HOME,:2thumbs::ohyea::yes:

AWESOME--- great trip---- and must feel great to be close to getting back home. 34 states---- WOW!

If you don't like baby pictures, don't look at todays, lol. She's about all we saw these last few days so.....When you're cute, what is a grammy supposed to DO? Take pictures and show them of course.

This has been a LOT of time on the road living out of GIVI bags!!!

Thank you so much for taking us along for this trip through all the evening chronicles of your ryde to say nothing of all the stops along the way to visit with SpyderLovers!!!!

I'll bet you will be tired but happy campers to sleep in your own bed!!!

Safe trip home!

We'll be leaving Roseburg, OR in a few minutes. Plan for today is I-5 south as far as we can go. Was strange getting up to a bright sunshine.

Didn't mean to slight anyone by NOT unfurling said banner, just have to be politically correct ( I have problems that way and need reminding ).

Absolutly no offense taken here........we were just having fun with you. :ohyea:
Thanks for all your post

Dudley,

If there was only one mod you could have added to make the trip any better/safer, what would it have been?

A GIVI trunk would have given us more carrying room, but we did really well with what we had. The Spyder was very comfortable as we have it set up. My signature has the mods we have installed, plus we have the BBs in the handlebars and Jennifer's floorboards.

Tonight we are in Westley, CA...a least the turnoff of I-5 where the motels, etc. are. Rode 502 miles today...reached temperatures of 102F. Gatorade rules! Tomorrow will be the one that takes us home. Mt Shasta today was really majestic!

Good to hear you are almost home. We stayed the night of our anniversary (June 24th)on the way to LA in Mt Shasta. It was a beautiful ride through that area. :)

This internet is too slow which is why I didn't post or o pics last night. Tried a while ago, but still dragging so no pictures until I get home and then they will be of no interest. Actually Mt Shasta and the entire vista was beautiful. All very worth while seeing; but not any time soon for us. We had passed this particular way in March 09 when going to await the birth of our granddaughter so the difference from winter look was welcome.
Anyway, know you're in California because the gas prices went up. Down south and in the east prices went from $2.49-$2.69. Saw them start to rise in Oregon, then when we got to California it was $3.09 to $3.23, and that is just the northern part of the state. I did mark that it was $3.16 at the small station by our house as we departed on this journey; will have to see what it is when we get there this evening. Did you see? THIS evening, yipppppppeeeee.
