Every time I would hit a bump even small one there would be a bang/clunk noise coming from the right rear. I thought for sure it was the right side saddle bag. Door open no noise when you banged on the passenger hand grip. Close the door the noise would be back. Finally got down and did some pushing/pulling/moving stuff and BINGO. The body panel above the passenger foot rest had no space between the panel and the mount area. No way to adjust for a space so I took a strip of corse emery paper, pulled out the panel a bit, slipped the paper in the crack and shaved off a bit of the bottom of the panel. Space.......No Noise....
I sleep much better while riding now.......ha ha.......

NOTE: All is well,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I'm just explaining my experience on this and asking a question here.
I have the 2014RTL. Not wanting to take a chance and scratch the chrome on the foot support plate, I took the trouble to take the side panel completely off and ground down the area you show, about a sixteenth of an inch or so (making sure it "appeared to be clear" and not rub when I pushed/wiggled on it). We took a ride of about 100miles yesterday and never heard a peep out of the area. Very happy !!!!!
When I got home, I got down and looked at the area and wiggled the bottom of the panel and it squeaked. :yikes: I looked at the area closely and it "appeared as if my gap had disappeared and interference could again create a squeak under certain movements (certainly by my pushing on it). I went out again this AM and looked at it, and the gap after sitting overnight appears to be back to what I ground it to, and no squeak was present when I wiggled it. :hun: It was warm for us yesterday (in the high 70s - OK warm for us this time of year I said :roflblack
Recognizing how hot parts/areas of the Spyder get, I'm wondering if "expansion" of this part while riding had anything to do with the problem :dontknow::dontknow: Thinking back, ALL of my issues have been in warmer weather rides (mostly 80/90s). This panel IS by the exhaust system we know. Just my thoughts.
As I said to start...……..I'm happy and believe in the fix :yes::yes: I may even remove more so it can't rub even if it expands some. Going to ride more and see if it comes back during rides. If not, guess I'm just putting a solution on no "real" problem :roflblack::roflblack: Thanks again for your original post :thumbup:
