• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. i did thee most stupid moronic idiotic thing today.
upon installing the spyder dock, i put one of the long hex bolts on the dash/LCD.
i started unscrewing the original bolt from the steering and my hand hit the long bolt i laid on the dash and the bolt fell inside the steeering...

nah, i cant see it

but magnetic tool thingy sounds like a good idea........

The black hole....

That or a striptease :yikes: pull all body panels so you can hunt for it. You will seldom find it falling out making life easy. Many have never found the smaller ones and have learned to stuff that area with a shop towel.....:banghead:

Now you've done it
You will have to limp to the dealer
And pay him $10,000 to find that bolt :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Agree

start removing body panels, it is likely on top of the air box. Nested in a crack or gap, you will see it. I've found all kinds of hardware under the Tupperware. Good luck!

Before going the magnet approach, test the second new mount bolt and ensure it is not stainless with no magnetic properties. It would be a bummer to spend all sorts of time and effort only to realize the a magnet will not grab the fastener.

Another place to look for it, inside the speakers after removing the top grill, a friend found a screw in there after dropping it thru the steering.

THAT BOLT

..:banghead: .... just pick it up and " shake it " a little .......:gaah:...........Mike :bbq:

An $80 inspection camera from Home Depot works to look into the nooks & crannies under the covers.

dropped bolt

at spyderfest a couple years back in cuba mo i had a gps mount fall off and go to the nether regions took a couple panels off the top and side wile at a gas station started reaching inside down near the bottom by the steering shaft in the goo was the bracket there are a lot of little places for that stuff to fall into but they rarely fall out on their own
sounds like a great excuse to pull panels and do a lot of learning about your ride
good luck

Most of us have been there. I have never found a dropped bolt or nut. They just disappeared into the black hole. :gaah:

All of us who do our own work seem to learn the hard way to stuff rags in any available opening. In putting in the gel pad I got from MotorcycleDave I lost a nut and bolt for the seat down that black hole never to be seen again.

BLACK HOLES ....ETC.

I have put DUCT tape over all those HOLES ( square ones ) under the seat, and then put small holes with a large HAT PIN in the bottoms for water drainage.......I haven't lost anything since :yes::yes:...............Mike :bbq:

Same

I've done the same as Mike. That way I don't have to remember to cover them every time. Best way to go. You're only going to get older not younger. Your memory does start to diminish. I'm really old enough to know that but I like to think that it's because over the years we have put so many things in that file it makes it hard to sort through.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

FOUND IT !!!

:yes:so happy and a sign of relief

took off the left side panel and found the bolt wegded between the frame and some wire.

Thanx for all the ideas and support guys......
