• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

drones around airports

i totally understand the concern about people flying drones around air ports and the idea of one being sucked in by a jet engine. everyone is concerned about what are they going to do. i say find out what frequencies are used for drones to operate and put jamers around the airports that would cause the drones to crash. what do you think, i think my idea is a good one

It would be nice if people would just smarten up and keep their drones away from airports. Guess that won't happen thou, so I go along with your idea. Maybe need to be able to land them safely and collect them up.

Hi cuznjohn,

Re: i say find out what frequencies are used for drones to operate and put jamers around the airports that would cause the drones to crash. what do you think,

I think that you would get a visit from those nice folks at the FCC. That is quite illegal.

i know if you go by a RC area where they fly RC planes and you take out any kind of broadcasting radio. the people doing the flying panic over it.

John,
I like your idea, but why not just let the Alabama skeet-shooting team take up strategic locations with some 10 gauge magnum shotguns? :thumbup:

there you go bob. when i worked at at Kennedy airport we had to do runway lighting, there were tons of wild dogs running around. so once a month the port would go out there with guns to shoot the dogs. so if they can shoot the wild dogs, why not wild drones.
when you think about it, this could be a test to see if a drone can take down a plane by some radical group, so it needs to be stopped right away

I like your idea John. Don't know about the legalities--but would think that they would not override safety concerns.

It is going to be just a matter of time before one gets sucked up into a plane engine (with or without bomb). I also am one hoping that lives will not be lost over something like a drone piloted by an idiot.

Drones have also interfered with fire fighting and the wildfires.

Hey John!
Here comes the Team! :yes::yes::yes:
Do you want to tell her where to go? :D

So the FAA tells the FCC to FUU.
