• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thinking about buying a drone for beginners.
Any recommendations. Don't want something that can't fly with light winds.

Wind in upstate NY blows almost everyday

Thanks in Advance

Depends on what you want to buy a drone for really. They have drone races, drone stunt competitions, then using drones as camera platforms (still or video, live or recorded, First Person View (FPV) or point and shoot).

Then you get into sizes, accessories, and portability. Fixed wing or multi-rotors. Actually wheeled drones are just now becoming commercially available

I have about seven different multi-rotor quad drones, from toys that fit in your palm (indoor flying and terrorizing my cats), larger stunt flyers (some indoor and some outdoor models), to camera platforms that carry GoPro's up for still and video shooting. I've been flying RC for 40 plus years and drones are just the latest trend. I still have planes that are 20 years old and still flying. Some of my early drones are just pieces awaiting reuse...:banghead:

For camera and stunt

So Multi-rotors versus Fixed wing (like the Parrot Disco)
Beginner multi-rotor drone's like the Hubsan x4 or Blade Nano QX get you experience and training without a huge capital outlay. pretty small for photography though.
I use an older Blade 450 QX to fly my GoPro's around, you can now get a Q-Cop 450 Quadcopter with camera built in. Then there's so many, many more, DJI pretty much
holds the top of the market.

I have 3 drones on one set - a bass and 2 tenors; 4 drones on another set - bass, tenor, baritone, alto; 2 drones on another set - bass and tenor.
I recommend purchasing a complete set including the 5 stocks, hide bag, blow pipe, chanter and all 4 reeds. (note: a bag cover is nice to have, but not required for good tone.) :2thumbs: ;)
