• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm going to the Maryland DMV this Friday to take the Operators test on my Spyder. There are 4 exercises they require and I'm sure I can handle them. Anyone else take a driving test on a Spyder without taking the Motorcycle Safety course?

I did here in OH and came away with a 3 wheel only endorsement. :D They used the same course as 2 wheel but spread out the cones a bit. I do have a scheduled MSC next month.

Good luck...listen to what the instructor says closely and you'll be fine.

I got my motorcycle endorsement in 1975. Safety course? Spyder?

:agree: Got mine in 1958, let it lapse while I was stationed in Germany in the mid '80s, redid it in 1987 when I retired.. I have taken both the beginners and advanced safety courses (2 wheel version) over the years though..

In WV, you follow the tester on a route. Then you do the route and the tester follows you. You either pass or you don't...ridiculous

Only good for 3-wheelers here too

AHHHH the Good ole Days. I'm with you Bill....got mine in the 70's. Just walked into the DMV and said "I'd like a motorcycle endorsment". Paid them the $$$ and got a new license.

What????? You can take the Driver's Test on a Spyder? I just completed the Motorcycle Safety Course (glad I did) this past weekend. No one even mentioned the ability to use the Spyder for the test. Let us know how it turns out.:gaah:

Here in AZ I did the written for motorcycle then went to do the riding course and all they had me do in the parking lot was dismount, mount, start the engine, test the blinkers and brake lights, then pull forward, stop, and make a quick little u-turn. Less than 5 minutes then that was it! I paid $7 for that? It was just for a 3 wheel endorsement.

You got off cheap for $7, in Michigan I'm paying $35 for the test plus I'm sure the state will charge me to reissue my license with the endorsement. I told them it was for a 3-wheel but I don't know yet if they make any concessions for them or not. The info said test would consist of an equipment check, weaving thru cones, braking and stopping.

Michigan is required by law to develop a test for 3-wheelers, but they have not done so...all these many years later. Since they have contracted out the testing, it is up to the testing company to administer a test. We could not find one that would do it, locally, which is why Nancy took the MSF course on two wheels instead. Call around and make sure that your testing firm will administer a modified test for three wheels. We heard that some that did, but none near Battle Creek.

I guess we have bigger fires to put out in MI than to develop a new test! I did specify that I wanted the 3 wheel endorsement and the girl was quick to tell me that I wouldn't be able to ride 2 wheels. I drove by their facility today and the cones look really really close together. I sure hope they move them or I could be in trouble. I was really surprised that they quit giving the MSF here by the 1st of Aug. And I have heard that they fill up very fast.

I will probably enroll in an Advanced Riders Course next summer, that is if they will let me take it on my Spyder.

Maryland has a 3-wheel test. Turns, braking, stops, weaves. I also hope the cones are not too close together. If you touch a cone they will terminate the test and fail you.

Good luck, be sure to let us know how it goes. I wanted to take mine on Monday but the tester is on vacation.

Test is complete. I am a newly licensed Spyder Ryder.:2thumbs:

The driving test included Quick stops, quick turns, 3 cone-weave, and other minor items. It was a breeze!!!

Now I don't have to look over my shoulder to see if Smoky is behind me.
