There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Driver Backrest for 2014 RT

Looking to purchase a driver backrest for my 2014 RT-S. Really don't want to pay $450 for the Can Am rest, so I'm looking at some off brands.

Wasn't sure if the off brands would utilize the same mounting through the existing OEM seat or not.

Have any of you guys purchased an off brand that works well with the OEM seat with no other modification involved?

BACKREST

:agree: ....I've had Utopia's on a few Motorcycle's including my Spyders and they are the best for all reasons , imho........Their attachment bracket, is the same as BRP's and fits EXACTLY the same...........I bought a used Utopia on E-bay and made my own Bracket...............Mike

From what I can tell, the BRP backrest doesn't require any brackets. Just pop the seat tab off and push into the seat. No bracket necessary.

Do aftermarket brands work this way or do the need to have a bracket installed under the seat?

OK. So I assume that just because I have the hole in the OEM seat for a backrest, that doesn't mean that I have the bracket, correct?

So whatever backrest I get will come with the brackets necessary, and I'll need to mount that under the seat.

Am I correct in this thinking?

The Utopia backrest comes with everything you need to install. All you need is a serrated bread knife and a little cutter to notch out the little plastic cover that's over the hole in your OEM seat.

It's a very easy install.

Go on their website and look at the installation directions to see for yourself.

I seem to remember someone here bought one from another member, and only received the actual Backrest....later discovered they needed the Bottom Bracket to hold it to the seat Pan...........maybe someone here that has added one will clarify.....if not go on the BRP accessory catalog and see if they tell you......Mike

Driver Backrest

I had a Utopia backrest installed on our 2010 RT-S SE5 in November 2011 and have been very happy with the decision.

There is a bracket

There is a bracket that comes with the brp backrest. I installed mine last year, purchased from a fellow Spyderlover member and am quite happy with it. I actually just reinstalled it into my seat after adding the adjustable backrest add on that brp came out with. I'm looking forward to taking it for a little test spin to get it dialed in.

I just installed this Utopia backrest this past week, am extremely satisfied with all aspects! Easy install, all necessary components supplied, perfect color match, adjustable fore and aft, folds down flat, excellent price.
