• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Drive belt squeal?

Recently I have noticed a high pitched noise, that I could only describe as a squeal, apparently coming from the rear center area. The sound occurs mostly during acceleration only. As that is the general area of the drive belt I am guessing that it is coming from there but when I asked the repair tech about it a month ago he told me that was common in older Spyders and it was nothing to worry about but it is getting louder now. Is this indeed normal or should I take it to a new shop?

Little checking.....

I see you have a 2012 RT so I would ask....when was the last time the rear wheel bearings were checked...?? there was a bulletin indicating that placing a "pea" size dab of grease on the rear sprocket would eliminate belt squeal. This may be the best place to start...Then get back to us....

Does sound change...

at different speeds? I read on some forum they had a slight noise until the front sprocket fell off. Might look for the red dust to cover that base? Not a mechanic, just tossing ideas out there! Maybe buy a cricket gauge to keep handy to check belt every couple months? Never had weird squeals (yet) on my GS or RT. GL!

Belt tension

I have not recently checked the belt tension but I will get a tension gauge and check it myself, I did just get a new rear tire early this spring, so the tech at the dealer should have set the tension properly but that is assuming that the tech knew what he was doing and did it properly. I also have not added a tensioner.
