I know i could probably resolve it if I removed the bottom splash plates, as part of the "fix", but I cannot get past thinking that they must have been put there for a reason. :dontknow:

It worked for me with no negative results.

Highwayman, you mentioned before that you removed "both" plates from the bottom of the bike. Can you recall exactly where these two plates are on the bottom, and what is involved in their removal?
