• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DPS Recall

scrolling code-DPS

last week codes kept coming across, took it to dealer, the b;uds said it was the old pressure sensor. left it there. they of course had to order the
oart.. While there, theu replaced the recalled DPS. Thats the third one fpr
this spyder. It's ready, I pick it up and within 5 mile it scrolls again, took
it back. Buds says noyhing is wrong, mechanic finds corroded terminal,
After clraning I take it out for 20 miles, no problem. Paid my 50 deductible
for the oil sensor. Drove 15 towards home and the codes are back.

They want it back tomorrow. Round trip 114 mi. The relays are all tight.....

Anyone have a suggestion ?????????????????

I was hoping someone with an RT would say otherwise. The last thing the RT needs is more sensitive sterring. If they ever get a DPS for mine, I'll try it, but more sensitive steering could be the straw that broke the camel's back. It is is noticeably different, the RT will be gone. The handling is marginal as it is.

Scotty, I probably did a bad job of describing the difference in the steering between the old and the new DPS units. It seems to me that it takes less effort to steer it than the old one but it's not, to me anyway, overly sensitive. It still takes some effort to turn it through a 90 degree corner, just not as much as before. It is still rock solid on straight roads and very easy to maneuver through gentle turns. With the cruise control set at 70 this morning I eased it into the buffeting air behind and to the side of an 18 wheeler and had no problems with one hand on the bars.

I'm sorry if I misled you into thinking it was more sensitive. It's not. It just requires a little less effort to turn it. It feels a little different but not a bad different at all.

Talk about great service...my dealer, Kent Power Sports in San Antonio replaced my DPS and another recall fix while my 2010 RTS PE205 was in for service. I didn't even know about the recall yet.

Good Job Guys!!:

DPS

Had mine done this week, got the bike back today, it drove like a completely new machine. I only have 4 miles on the new steering unit but do like the change already.:2thumbs::yes:

There are enough other threads on here now where it appears to definitely be worth getting it changed out. If you have not had any steering issues to this point, then I would not be afraid to ryde your Spyder at all. BRP is recalling every Spyder built before August 19, 2010, in order to make sure they put this issue to rest; hopefully, once and for all. I know my wife and I will be ryding ours for at least another month before we take them in for the replacement, the way things look right now.

As far as changing your wife, I can't give you any advice in that area. :D

I got my letter today and called my dealer for an appontment.
The Service Manager let me know that all the parts in stock have been spoken for and replacements won't be available until she sends in the old parts (like we've been saying here). She will contact me to replace the DPS as soon as she gets new units in. I won't be around here until after the SITS so..... They will do it, while I wait, when I get back. I can't complain about that service, can I?

Well they kept my Spyder overnight so they could start first thing in the morning. Ready by 10:30AM.

I wasn't sure I got my own bike back.... The update is AWESOME. I didn't realize that I was working so hard on the steering before. Less fatigue overall and the response is the same on the left and right side. There seemed to be a right bias before that I thought was just the torque.
This is the BEST upgrade - recall - repair - whatever you want to call it. I am not liking the idea that I'll have to be winterizing soon..... A Fall colour ride tomorrow, for sure

:congrats: makes me want to start pushing a little harder to get ours taken care of as well. Enjoy the ryde while you still can.

dps recall

after the first initial HOO HA, had the dps done. first ride 33km all the bells n whistles came on, back to the shop, got it out friday nite and put her all back together, electronics and all. 650 km in 2 days later complete with some serious side/head winds, I AM IMPRESSED, it is like a new machine. at first scared the crap out of myself due to the sensitivity but have overcome that now. For all those sitting on the fence for whatever reason, GET IT DONE.
