There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. DPS Recall

I received the recall letter dated September 7 2010. I called the dealer where i purchased my Spyder RT on September 27 2010. I was told it would be about 2 weeks before they could do it. I have called several times including today November 2 2010 and told the same problem they don't have the parts. I was told i could wait until next m/c season if i wanted to or if i sold the bike before then the new owner could have it done. After spending $26,000.00 on the RT thats just the answer i didn't want to hear. I purchased the Rt in New Hampshire so the riding season is just about over for this year unless i put skies on it.

I guess if they feel it could be a potential problem with the RT i can wait until next m/c season for it to happen.

surprised at the number done (I am guessing that many were at the Smokies Event and had it done there?)

I had the recall DPS done on my RT before I got the letter. Called the dealer about another issue and asked about the recall which I had read about on Spyderlovers. They said to bring it on in and they would do it. They did it that day but had some trouble getting everything to line up in BUDS so I left it overnight so they wouldn't have to hurry the job. Picked it up the next day and it has been great. Didn't have any trouble before but the new DPS takes less effort to steer and is more precise.

I had zero problems getting the DPS recall. I called the dealer in San Antonio on a Tuesday and they said bring it in on Saturday at 9am. Was out by 11am.

I did discover the shock tension adjuster on the left side is broken (won't budge), so I guess I'm making another trip to the dealer when the part arrives. :sour:

I'm waiting until the weather gets to the point of "no good for riding", which, here in northern Illinois, should be soon. I wanted to give my dealer the opportunity to get a few of these jobs under their belts before taking ours in. I need to have them look at the instrument cluster (tach working intermittently) and an oil leak too.

Just had mine done on the RT today by East TN ATV. Right now they have stock for the RT but none for the RS. :dontknow:

Can't tell if it made a difference till I get out on the twisties. :doorag:

personal recall action inaction

+I haven't voted yet because I've been holding off on my personal action re the recall.

Since this is my primary vehicle (yes, I do have a car), and I go through withdrawals when I have to leave it at the dealer, AND when doing so need to also inconvenience my wife to make the trip in a separate vehicle with me (twice if I have to leave it), I prefer to have my service visits performed while I wait, when possible.

I arrive first thing in the morning, bring magazines and books, and read and chat away with customers until it's ready. I bring a thermos of coffee and lunch, etc. Sometimes demo vehicles are available to while away time.

I checked this past weekend (while there for a state inspection) and was advised that they'd done about a dozen already now, and they're comfortable thinking it could be done while I wait. Since the traditional moto season is winding down, they're also more able to accommodate me into their schedule, and with my non-traditional riding needs, I don't mind waiting. There are owners without my seat time that may not react as sedately as I to the changed handling situation. IMHO, they need it before I do.

I've only had two minor concerns throughout its life, where I simply parked it for a few minutes and it self-corrected, and I'm comfortable with the wait.

Ride on.

Picked mine up today and what a difference it has made. Along with a few other items like the rear shock replaced, belt adjustment, clutch adjustment and service bullitins all addressed. Feels like it should now and had a great ride today with it! :trike:

I have been on a list at West Coast Powersports in Clearwater FL for over a month and have been told I'm first on the list when an RT DPS comes in as they get one shipped to them to replace one sent back. Hard to believe over a month to get a replacement? They said they had one 3 weeks ago and I made the 1 way 110 mile trip for installation to find out I'd been misinformed.....only had RS DPS's in. What can I say other than hopefully soon!

Had my RTS's first service and "recall" taken care of right before I left for Street Vibrations in September. I had the service done at SK Northwest here in Portland, OR. They were very proactive and called me about the recall before I even got "the letter"....(still haven't received it from BRP). The RTS handled like a dream all the way to Reno and I won't even talk about that nice set of twisties between Reno and Virginia City. Let's just say that by that time, I was starting to feel very comfortable with the handling of the Spyder and I got to see what she could do :2thumbs:.......VERY impressed!!

Carlo called and my DPS has been mailed and he told me to call WCPS Friday and it should be there. Woo hoo.....I'll be glad to have that out of the way! Thanks Carlo!!

I keep checking with my dealer each week and still nothing. They have 3 RT's waiting to be done. I have known my dealer (brothers) for nearly 15 years and they are good guys I have bought from numerous times. I do not believe they are blowing smoke here as I think it is an issue with BRP. :gaah:
At least the delay has allowed me to do the research into replacing the stock sway bar/shocks with Elka's and the Evoluzione once the nose comes off to replace the DPS! :doorag: Both on order with my Elka's going to have 325# (per John) Springs due to my size and my ryding 2 up occasionally plus gear.

Recall

Had the recall done the day I got the letter. The dealer only had one DPS unit for RT in stock.. I am glad I got it because the handling is definitely superior....

had mine done this week. still waiting for the Spyder to get back. according to BRP they had some issues with supplier but that is changing and soon should see stock in dealerships.

start checking back with your dealers to see if they got any this week.

Mine was next in line and happens to be at dealer for other issues and so a RT DPS Unit showed up late last week and poof I am now done...

Had mine done this past Saturday, this combined with the evo sway bar has my :spyder2: running pretty sweet.:yes::yes::yes:

I had mine done last Friday. Very happy with handling. After a new rear shock and possibly an air bag being replaced, I have to think The Black will ride even better. I'll be ready for our Saturday ride.

Had the DPS recall and 600 mile service done at Coleman Powersports in Woodbridge, VA. The service was fast and professional. A HUGE difference in handling since the recall....more responsive. :2thumbs::2thumbs:
