• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DPS Recall Exchange

Got my notice yesterday. Called the local dealer and was told as of right now...BRP will only ship a new unit once they receive the old unit...could be up to a 2 week turn around. Kinda confused...will the new DPS make a difference in handling?

You shouldn't notice any difference unless your DPS is already bad.

I was at my dealer yesterday...they told me of the recall and gave me an appointment for this morning. I will be leaving shortly for the steering recall.

I got lucky. Called my dealer Yamaha of San Antonio. They were able to get me in this Friday. That was quicker than I expected.

I've never had a confirmed problem with the DPS. Once on the highway with the wife on back in a gradual sweeper, I had it get momentarily "stuck" and then it released and I pressed on. At the next stop light I was wiggling the bars back and forth as I'd read here about other issues.

Either way, it is safe to just get it replaced.

Had mine done yesterday. I had the steering lock up on me before and it was not pleasant. Carlo and my dealer have been great handling the issue. A new DPS was installed a few months ago but I still had the thought in the back of my mind. Courtenay Motorsports on Vancouver Island made sure I was taken care of with the first units they received, they have been awesome to deal with. Rode three hours home on a beautiful day! Unlike some who felt a difference I did not. Just peace of mind.

Mission accomplished. Was at my appointment at 9 AM, done by 10:45 AM. I am not an accomplished finesse rider, so I will not go into something I could mislead someone about. But in summery, the new DPS is tighter, more responsive, smoother. Feels a lot more like a car power steering. I will suggest, just as a precaution, when you get yours done, take time to get the feel of it before you go do some daring twisties.

But most of all..."Git'r dun!!!".

Great information Dudley! Thanks for the update! Too bad Jacumba is so far from East Tennessee! Love to have you guys for the BBQ!

Quick DPS turnaround

FWIW - I got my letter today, called the dealer (Joe Harrison Honda) and they said come on over and we'll do it today. I left the bike there and will pick it up Tuesday after i get a few other items done (tune up, etc). They were friendly and accommodating. I'm in Texas - San Antonio and have a 2009 Phantom.
