• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DPS Recall Exchange

New member
Just called my dealer. I have an appointment Wednesday morning. I have never had any problems with the DPS, but I am looking forward to seeing if the new one will be noticeably different.

The appointment is for 9 AM and it should be done by 1 PM or sooner.

:agree: +1 Never had a problem.

Was at the dealers on Thurs for a demo ride on the RTS and I had a copy of the recall that Lamont had posted so they ordered it and it came in to-day. In the shop 08.00 Tues. Hope all will be well as I'm heading down to :spyder2:s in the Smokies on Fri.

I called my dealer today as I have an appointment tomorrow for another issue. I asked if they could install the DPS at the same time and they told me that the 5 DPS that they received are being saved for their floor model Spyders. They are the same 5 Spyders that they have had for two months now. So if they aren't going to install the recall part until they sell these I am screwed. Seems a little whacked to me.

Once they install them and ship the boxes back they will get more dps's

Patience! The letters have't even hit the mailboxes yet!

Now if they do the floor models immediately......If they wait until one is sold, you may be waiting a long time. If that's the case, I would contact BRP.

Just got mine done, NIGHT and day difference, I never had any problems with my old one but the new one is sportbike level handling way more on the ball.

Since I had the software update, I've not really had any problems. But I've always been a bit curious about the way the bike handles even when I'm driving straight down the highway. I sometimes find myself shifting my weight slightly from side to side to compensate for what feels almost like the steering has too much play. I usually blame it on uneven pavement. There used to be an icon available on this site that really represented how it felt (the biker moving left and right), but I don't see it anymore! Anyway, do any of you have this same issue? I'm hoping it will be smoother with the new DPS. Any thoughts/comments/suggestions?

Got our letter yesterday:thumbup:

Called a dealer & was told I would be put on a list, I was #6 as BRP would only ship them one at a time.:gaah:
Change one, ship the old back & get a new one.:dontknow:
Sounds like bs to me.

We have 3 dealers 100+ miles East, West, & North.
Two more calls to go

Mine has been out most of the summer, really no issue except for when sitting still.
I was not going to let a dealer kidnap our smyles (y before L except after C?) until after the snow fly's.:D

My dealer said there got 10% of the number of Spyders sold in new DPS units. They will do the floor units and sneaked me in. After the initial units are received, then any more units will be on an exchange with BRP. Not really BS, just good practice. I don't know how many units have been sold world wide, but I would think that 10% will be a significant amount. How soon a dealer can get you serviced after the floor units are done will depend on how many units the dealership has sold initially. If you have not had any issues so far, you're probably safe. It's been a while since any issues have been posted. But I would suggest that we all do as BRP says and get it done on our units.

Dudley, I agree with you 100% & explained your statement to the dealer & was told no, it'd not how it is working for them.

Now, the deale (s) that either closed doors, or like mine, bailed because of demand on ATV mandatory yearly stocking- where is their 10%.?

No offense, I will/would ryde it the way it is, I love it.:2thumbs:

Guess it all boils down to the dealer handling it. I have a terrific dealer, bar none. I am treated extremely well and don't even bring the Spyder in for minor maintenance. Must be my hair style.:shemademe_smilie::ohyea:

Called my dealer late last week and he'd just received the first 5 units. Made and appointment for today and had it done. I am blessed with a great dealer who bends over backward to take care of their customers (Motorsports of Tampa). Only rode the bike home so have not had a chance to really see a difference. I wasn't having any problems previously, but if BRP says it needs to be change, I'm getting in line, and early.

got my recall monday going in thursday well have her back in two days:gaah:no rydeing for me been on her for 5 days missed her hi all :2thumbs:

I haven't received a letter from BRP yet but I called my dealer, Family Powersports in San Angelo, Tx, this morning on another issue and they told me if I could get the RT there by noon they would change the DPS today. I've had no steering problems whatsoever but it sounds like this recall might prevent problems in the future so there was no question that I wanted to do it. I took it in and they installed the DPS but at closing time they were having trouble getting everything to check out on BUDDS. They would have stayed and worked on it after quitting time but I told them there was no need, I could pick it up tomorrow. So I'll get it tomorrow and let you know if it steers and handles any differently.
