• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'll try to answer in reverse order. "Limp Mode" is a feature that your spyder has when there is some kind of "fault" that has occurred with either your electrical, engine or other necessary component for the proper operation of your spyder. Limp Mode exhibits itself with the words "limp mode" in a bright orange background of your LCD screen. (perhaps LCD is not the proper designation, but hopefully you'll know what I mean).

Now as to the second portion of your thread. It is entitled DPS light came on and then went off. However, in the body of your thread you state that the 2011 RT-S light came on and then went off. So as to be accurate with my answer, I ask you what leads you to believe that it is the DPS light? My experience is that if the LCD screen lists some kind of "fault" that has occurred, then usually it doesn't just go off by itself. With that said, if you turn off your engine, wait a second and then restart, many times this fault will not exhibit itself.

Caveat!!! I am no gear head and I too am new to the spyder. Hopefully I have correctly answered your question. If someone else would like to chime in, please feel free.

You don't give much information. My screen showed "limp mode" and my rpms were reduced to about 35-40 mph. I stopped, shut off the engine, removed the key, put it back, started engine and had no more problem. I had been riding my brake....!! It is easy to do.

400 miles later, my "check DPS" came on and stayed on for 75 miles...but did not reduce rpms. I stopped for gas and when I started it, no check DPS came on. I rode to my dealer 50 miles the next day and no check DPS, however the dealer said it (BUDS) showed a bad DPS sensor. Changed it and all is well so far for the last 700 miles...

Good luck.

I see that break riding is a common issue, I wonder if a small LED on the dash would alert a rider they are on the break?

Thanks,
Randy

From my experience, if I use the cruise control on highway, there is no way that I can ride the brake without disengaging the cruise. I just ride with my foot to the right of the pedal and have no issues about braking. My habit is to pick up and move my foot to brake. I figure if I need the brake any sooner, then foot riding above the pedal will not make any difference.

Mine came on today. I have not been riding the brakes, hopefully I had a brain fart and did it today. Check DPS came on, went into limp mode. I turned off the next side street I could and pulled over. I turned the key off, but the LCD screen did not fully go off. I turned the key back on, the "engine" light came on and stayed on and Check DPS came back on the screen. I turned the key off again and waited until the LCD screen fully off plus a few seconds, the "engine" light went off and there was no error on the LCD. Was able to make it the rest of the way home with no issues. Will keep an eye on it over the week and hopefully it was just me riding the brake.

To do a "soft" reset, you have to shut off the ignition and remove the key for at least 15 seconds, as I recal. The procedure is explained in your Owners Guide.
