• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DPS, Clutch, Heat, Alignment and DESS
I probably missed one or more than one.

These are probably the top five All Time BRP Spyder Problems.
I remember each one.
Each one caused a flurry of angry posts, legal threats and damaged public relations.

When a major purchase fails in some respect it's pretty much human nature to get angry and disappointed.
When that purchase is a toy (as the Spyder is for most) then it's doubly bad.

Things that we buy for entertainment should do just that.
Entertain us.
Not go in the opposite direction and annoy us.

But here is my point and one that will probably rub a lot of people the wrong way.
I don't think that perfection is necessarily reasonable to expect.

Truly, I don't know much about the latest flap concerning DESS.
The overall impression that scanning the various threads leave is that it has struck everyone who owns a Spyder.
That Spyders are requiring tows back to the garage almost every time they are taken out.

Of course that is exactly the impression that all of the other flaps left too.
And it wasn't true.

When people don't get the instant response they expect from social media, the escalation grows.
Instantly.
I've spent a lifetime in one form or another of engineering.
Problems aren't solved instantly.
It takes a lot of time.

BRP has its problems to be sure.
Clearly they don't appear to respond fast enough, at least publicly.
But as the major problems have arisen BRP has managed to get them fixed.

That is what is reasonable to expect.

Well Put....

My biggest concern is that too many think this site represents evey spyder made. If they see a problem here that means that all the spyders have that problem. We do our best to help to the best of our knowledge and the fact that so many comment makes it seem they too have the problem..we are a generation of instant gratification, fast food and you owe it to me that this would be where that saying fits best...."God give me patients and I want it right now!!!" :roflblack:

Agreed

it is a machine and s--- happens most time driver induced. your car/truck brakes down you get it fixed and you move on. Our pride and joys:spyder2: are special and we don't want to think of them as anything less then perfect.

One of the problems with this forum and all others like it is that people don't stick to the subject of the thread. They hijack it to so that they can make comments, either related or not, that have little if anything to do with the original intent. I just started a DESS thread a few days ago with a specific question addressed to a specific person at BRPcare. The thread has expanded to 10 pages. Most of the posts are not an answer of any kind to the question I asked. None are from the person I directed the thread to. A few people have been constructive and tried to be helpful but, most are just posting to rehashing issues and experiences that they have had to deal with. In the case of my thread, there is a similar one where most if not all of their issues have been talked about before. I had no intension of revisiting what was covered in that thread. My question was lost in everyone's need to say something even when it was not a response to my question. As with all forums, some people seem to need to post a comment even if it is only to say that they have nothing to say about the subject. This forum is a great resource for Spyder owners but, it can be very difficult to keep a thread on track and not have it hijacked.

You are correct, it is nearly impossible to keep a thread on track as to the OP intentions.

However, the resulting threads on the subject were remarkably like other threads on the topics I listed.
My post here was only to bring about a bit of historic perspective and to give credit where credit was due to the resolution of previous Spyder problems.

Agree 100%

I was a line tech. working at Nissan dealerships for 15 years and I can tell everyone first hand that the issues with Spyders are nothing compared to what I've seen occur with the Nissan product. And Nissan is regarded as a quality product.

Has anyone ever owned an 87-90 Nissan Van? (C22)

If you are looking for a response from a specific member then you should probably send them a private message.
