• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DON'T NEED THIS EXCITEMENT!!

Last evening, Bruiser and I were sitting on the couch, chillaxin, when he started getting really bad chest pains. He went into the bedroom to lie down and I checked on him. Asked him if I should call 911, and he said yes. Ambulance took him to the emergency department, they admitted him, did lots of tests on him, and it wasn't his heart. Did a gall bladder ultrasound this morning, and he does have gallstones, but not inflamed, so wouldn't cause the pain he had. Just figuring it was esphogeal reflux, which can mimic a heart attack. He is home now, we're both tired, but doing well.

Hope we can both get a good night's rest. Those so-called sleep chairs at the hospital are NOT comfortable at all!!

Teddy & I are glad he's going to be ok, and it wasn't something more serious

:helpsmilie:Even tho it turned out ok, I'm glad that he made the dicision to go to the hospital:thumbup:

Far too many of us would try to blow it off and end up in a much worse position, or deadnojoke

:cheers:Get some much needed rest, Teddy and I will keep y'all in our thoughts :2thumbs:

Phew! I'll take a non-critical diagnosis every time over the other possibility. Glad he was smart enough to get it checked out. He's smarter than I am. The two times I have ignored my pain, I ended up in the hospital for a week, in critical condition. Better safe than sorry...as I have finally learned.

Always better to take the safer route and get checked out, glad his doing ok, now off to bed with you both.

We don't need this kind of excitement either...

Glad that it turned out to be nothing near as bad as it could have been!

To please always check with your Doc and have a hart test done when we are getting older. Look what I went thu?... I did get a new hart, and things are getting better. But please always check the old hart out some time, can help later on. Be well .. John w. ( spacetrucker)

DOING FINE TODAY!!

Thanks so much for the thoughts, prayers and concerns. He's doing fine today. We even rode to dinner as it's been a beautiful day. It's so good to know there are friends on here who will be there when you need them!! :)

Thanks all. I told her she didn't have to post anything, but she never listens to me much anyway. Guess that's one of the reasons we've been together so long. This was one of those pains that makes you go :yikes:. It came out of nowhere and very intense. As a retired vol. EMT/FF i figured something wasn't right. It was gone before I was even loaded into the ambulance. BUT HERE'S MY WARNING TO ALL. Make sure you have someone with you who has an intimate knowledge of your health history. Fortunately I was alert and cognizant so I was ok. Here's what happened. While on the ward they tried to give me meds that I do not nor have ever taken. One was Advair, the respiratory therapist showed up and said it was time for my breathing treatment. I asked what she was talking about. She said "you do have COPD or asthma don't you?" I won't repeat my full answer, but assured her I didn't. She then said, "well, respiratory therapy is on the protocol for this ward". Second one was later that afternoon, the nurse showed up with Neurontin, an anti siezure med. Again I informed her that I have never had siezures nor ever taken Neurontin. After doing some checking she said that these mix ups were due to a mixup and computer problem with the pharmacy. Although neither of these drugs on their own would have been life threatening for me they could have been for someone else. Another reason why BB and I don't like this hospital. But when you live in a small city with one hospital one doesn't have much choice in an emergency. There were other issues in the ER but we'll leave that alone. Just say I had words with the doctor that became very, very heated. Thank God I'm more mellow then I used to be and my temper has mellowed as well. Again, thanks all, and John, glad to hear from you and that you are doing so well. Welcome to Kris' circle of transplant buddies.

Good advice, Bruiser. Nancy and I have such sordid medical histories, and so long, that even when we are lucid we can't remember everything. We bring written copies of our medical history summaries with us on road trips or trips to the doctor. I even keep copies on my cell phone. These show the drugs we are on, drug allegies, our medical and surgical histories, etc. You can't be too careful. Nobody should be alone in a hospital...and nobody should be there without a medical history and/or an informed spokesperson.

Excellant idea Scotty.

I've been threatened with removal by security from that hospital before when BB was a patient there. Let's just say they reconsidered their options and left me alone.

i gotta ask, as no one else has. i presume they did all the necessary blood work to see that there was no elevation in the triponin levels? i had a heart fart in tenn. on vacation about 9 years ago and they were going to send me home until they did the blood work. it came back elevated and ekg's hadn't shown any damage or blockage, but the next morning the cath lab went to the widow maker, 90% blockage, and inserted two stents. if it hadn't been for the blood work, who know's what might have happened?

Yes, all came back normal. ECG was normal other than my usual inverted S and T waves. They did a gall bladder ultrasound as well which did show some stones. However, the doctor said they showed no signs of inflammation. News to me, never had any problems there either. Bottom line is they don't know what caused the pain but wanted to do a stress test, CAT scan, angiogram (I'm alergic to IVP dye) all on Monday. I stopped it all and told them send me home. I'll make an appointment with my cardiologist and generalist which is on the list for first thing tomorrow.
