• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Don't know if I should have...

Using cruise while towing....

I am confused. Why would you think that it is a problem to use the cruise control while towing?

I had read that there was such a thing as trailer mode on the Spyder - I didn't find one on my 2010 RT SM5.... so I just wasn't sure about using the cruise.... I've only been a Spyder Ryder for a short time and this is the first long trip we took towing....

Well, I was going to offer an opinion on using cruise control while towing (I do), but this thread seems to have gone haywire.

That would not be a concern to me. Trailer Mode just forces higher rpm shift points.

I still don't see the concern :dontknow: since the trailer mode will only cause the bike to downshift earlier. Going down the road in 5th (no trailer mode if you have 6 speeds) it will make no difference. If it downshifts for a hill, that's just standard operation that would require you to upshift once the hill is past and then re-engage the cruise control. The operation would be virtually identical with the cruise control engaged or not engaged.

News to me yes it changes the shift rpm but also the brake balance & few other things im sure. Tighter tolerance for nanny. More for me to learn but for sake of peace on forum, trailer mode is there for a reason cruise control is a combination & a privilege. As i see it pulling trailer improperly (no mode) risk damage & the other does not. IMO

Sorry that is incorrect. It is in the owners manual. On SE5 models you are warned to use Trailer Mode or engine damage will result. There is no mention that trailer mode makes any changes to the stability system or brakes. If that was important why is there no trailer mode on SM5, SE6 and SM6 models.

Maybe you all have it wrong. Maybe if you use that mysterious Eco mode along with trailer mode your gear will be teleported to its destination ahead of you. Now that would be a great feature! :roflblack:

:D The 1330s get ECO mode...
998s get the Trailer mode!

Wouldn't having both of them, be like putting a humidifier AND a de-humidifier in the same room, and letting them slug it out? :dontknow:

SM5 trailer mode

There is no trailer mode with the manual transmission. Relax, pulled my trailer all over and no problems using cruise control.
