• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

... but I did... use the cruise control on my RT SM5 while pulling our Bunkhouse trailer. Have I messed up here? :opps: I am back home after 2000+ miles and Hi-O Silver is in the garage. Hope I haven't ruined anything.... :yikes:

I think you are probably OK, if something was going o happen, I think it would have all ready happened.

I use my cruise control to do a better job than I can do of maintaining a constant speed, which is normally the safest thing you can do when ryding (or driving). Unless you were hauling a$$ to the point of strain that the byke wasn't designed for, I can't image cruise control doing any damage. Even then, it would be the heavy throttle that did the damage, not the cruise control. I use mine when I haul my Aluma trailer.

I'm presuming your engine temperature didn't get into any dangerous zones?

Sooo...

Do you use the cruise control when you have a passenger...?? no difference...Relax and enjoy the aftermath of a great trip and be ready for the next...your spyder is....

A bit of explanation...
Cruise control is designed to hold your bike at a constant speed, while going down the highway...
Getting up to speed is accomplished without it's use...
As is slowing down (braking)
You can't shift or brake without it being disengaged...

No harm: no foul... :D

My biggest concern is that this could cause a DESS failure, and your Winshield Support Arm to break! Also be sure to check your blinker fluid!:roflblack:

Did you have it in "trailer mode" ?
That would be a concern.

I still don't see the concern :dontknow: since the trailer mode will only cause the bike to downshift earlier. Going down the road in 5th (no trailer mode if you have 6 speeds) it will make no difference. If it downshifts for a hill, that's just standard operation that would require you to upshift once the hill is past and then re-engage the cruise control. The operation would be virtually identical with the cruise control engaged or not engaged.
