• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Don't drag the Boss 302!

really? no one here has ever street raced their spyder? what a crock of :cus:. i see i'm already being scolded. doesn't bother me. is racing any worse than running 90 or 95 on the freeway? i don't think so, but i'll bet many of you do that. :roflblack: i know arntufun has:roflblack: Randy!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

:lecturef_smilie::D What did your Mom tell you about trying to justify bad behavior by saying "Everbody else does it?" :roflblack:

A quick jump at a red light is hardly street racing. And I always back off when I hit third gear and don't even get 10 over the speed limit so unless the cop is having a real bad day he would just chuckle and look the other way.

The way I see it, two things were working against you.....

1. You were not on a RS
2. It was not yellow

:joke:

As soon as you posted this, I knew someone was going to give you grief about street racing...... :roflblack: You will get him next time.

I let a Mazda 3 blow my Tupperware off last week. Does that count? Seriously though, every ricer in town wants to race me. It's pretty annoying. I give them the race posture and a little throttle and they pull away pretty satisfied thinking they blew away a bike. Too bad they never hear me not shift into second over their fart can exhaust! The RT can hold its own. Maybe not against one of the pony cars, but its no slouch. I just don't need to prove it. More than a ticked off cop and toe tapping insurance agent, it's the explaining to my wife part I most worry about.

Never say you were racing.

Officer, he was helping me troubleshoot a problem.

****
In the 70's in Ca. if you were sighted for 30 or more above the posted speed limit - the penalty was not a fine but, automatic jail time.

I'm staying out of this one, but I think that my Spyder with it's Two Brothers pipe moves out pretty darned well and accelerates faster than many many vehicles out there.:doorag:

...it sounds meaner too.

:roflblack: What's wrong with this picture? "Race posture" on a touring machine. What's next, Top Fuel Goldwings? You guys are cracking me up! This is fun, keep 'em coming. :roflblack:

Glad someone picked up on the ridiculousness of my statement. The whole premise of racing a touring bike is ridiculous, but the ricers seem to think differently.

In a funny sort of way

most people in four wheelers who are posturing a challenge are only complimenting the Spyder.

It's the same as their saying/asking(if they could) - man that looks SO cool......is it fast? jmo

I like the way you think. Perhaps I shall accept their challenge. :D

And touring machine or not, 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds is very quick out of the gate.

The GS/RS is 4.5 to 60 the RT is Lets say Somewhat SLOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yikes::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I don't know how much slower the RT is. I seem to recall a thread about it somewhere and RS weren't getting ahead of the RTs until they hit the upper limits of their aerodynamic limitations. RTs do tend to feel a bit sluggish just driving around, but I've never had an issue pulling onto a crowded freeway from a dead stop with my wife and gear onboard.

Let's face it, a vehicle that weighs 25% more and has slightly less horsepower, is not going to accelerate as fast as its sportier brother. That's just plain physics. Quite frankly, most riders would never be able to duplicate the 0-60 times posted. The tendency to spin the rear tire, and having the nanny kick in if you get it sideways at all, nullify most efforts. All lightweight vehicles with decent horsepower (as in motorcycles), will tend to beat a car out of the hole if you can get them off the line, but all have traction problems that limit them from the theoretical...especially on real pavement and not on a properly prepared launch pad at the track. :D

Scotty I have a lot of respect for your knowledge. All I'm trying to say in a very layman's manner of speaking is that Spyders are quick and a lot of fun.

I've never street raced my Spyder or any other motorcycle, and I've been riding street bikes since 1968. I've been involved in professional auto racing as an official (starter) since 1996 and raced a bit in my youth and I've never street raced a car, either.

I've also never taken my Spyder over 85 mph on the freeway...I usually cruise at around 70-75 (depending on conditions)...though I've gone much faster on bikes and cars on the track. 90, 95, 100 or more mph on the freeway...nope. And it pisses me off when other bikers do...it puts everyone in danger.

You wanna go fast, you wanna race...do it on the track. That's one of the reasons I've made it to 62.

:D

I thought it was Harvey who said he couldn't keep up with Lamont pulling a trailer, because the RT had more torque. Don't know. I can't find the thread. Doesn't really matter, they are a blast to ride as mentioned here already.
