• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Don't Charge Battery

is what BRP must be telling me. I just installed the sebel air horn today (my first time taking any tupperware off and a great big THANK YOU to Geoffcee for his instructions on mounting the horn. They were the best and made a very sanitary job. I want to put a battery tender on the bike but cant get to the terminals without taking off the side and battery hatch (what a joke that is). I would like to install a jumper from both sides of the battery to come out the hole in the top of the battery cover but obviously cant have a wire loose under the seat. what is everyone, or anyone, using as a plug for this purpose. My battery tender has big alligator clips on it. any suggestions

I use the battery tender cigarette adapter in the rear trunk of my Spyder RT, no pigtails or de-installation of panels necessary.

Most tenders come with a moulded connecter mount a matching connector and zip tie it off to the frame or footpegs and pull off the big alligator clips and plug in

BOY DO I EVER FEEL STUPID. I never even opened the plastic on the package. It comes with everything I need..Sorry to bother you guys. This site is the best though.

battery

I went and bought 2 trickle chargers from sears , about 25$ each .comes with battery pigtail harness, jumper clamps, and accessory/ lighter plug connector. I simply connect to my accessory plug in the back of trunk. .. also had the dealer install the harness at the battery as a secondary source (free).:thumbup::ohyea::ani29::2thumbs:

Butt Plug

I ordered one of these after reading on this site back in Oct. I love it. I already had a hole drilled just behind the passenger backrest to run the Sirius antenna wire through and mount the puck up on the top of the trunk. Now I ran the 12 Volt battery tender wire through plugged in to the cigarette socket, and the battery tender plug rests just behind the passenger seat. It is now referenced by the wife as the Butt Plug. She reminds me to put the but plug in if I forget:yikes: I plug it in each time I put the Spyder in the garage.

Having that plug in the RT's trunk really does make it impossible to find a decent excuse for not keeping your battery charged...
Question: If you add an outlet up front in the frunk; is that one also hot all of the time? Would that be an easy place to add this option for our RS/GS/ST pilots?

The optional 2008-2012 RS front outlet is normally only hot when the Spyder is running, so it cannot be used to charge the battery. It can be wired to be unswitched, but that is not the standard connection. Not sure about the 2013s with the battery up front, yet, but the accessory terminals there are supposed to be more accessible anyway.

am i hearing right that there is a battery tender i can simply plug in to the cigarette lighter ??? if this is so please let me know...wowow!!!i have never hear of such a thing...this makes me feel stupid..

Powerlet and a number of others sources have a variety of adapters from battery maintenance chargers of various types to cigarette or Powerlet outlets.

My tender gives me the option to either connect directly to the terminals with clips ( as recommended in the owner's manual ) or, use the cigarette lighter in the rear trunk.

I've been connecting to the terminals. Only because the maunual recommended this method.

Is the cigarette plug just as good? Sure would be easier.

Just as good on the Spyder RT. I've always done it that way.
