Doing Burnouts

What are the modifications and the riding skills needed to do burnouts on clutch & semi-automatic machines? I'm ready to burn it up. Somehow turn off back brake & right front brake & keep left front brake turned on? I searched this discussion board, youtube, and web with little luck.

just keep handlebars straight & gas it or in reverse which can be quite fun

But have you noticed the odd post on how short lived tires are on spyders..??...:roflblack::roflblack: deep pockets I hope...:spyder:you tube had some impressive burnouts and the companies that prepped the spyders, sorry can't remember the names...:thumbup:

I performed a rather smoky burnout on my 2012 RT this morning while going out of the drive through lane at the bank.

I had made my deposit, waved goodbye to the teller and twisted my throttle. Some cars before me had obviously leaked some anti freeze at the window and once my rear tire hit that patch of Ethylene Glycol I did a very slick burnout through the lane. By the time I got into the parking lot I had created a good bit of smoke and laid a long patch of Kohmo residue.

If you cut the bars left or right; Nanny will think that you're having a loss of traction in the middle of a turn. :yikes:

I can count on one hand how many burnouts I've done plus one in reverse, that I don't recommend. The one in reverse was by accident and although the "R" was flashing on the tach, I somehow missed it.:roflblack:

I haven't done one since 2009 and prefer to keep the rubber on the tires as they are expensive as are the belts and damage to internal parts. I prefer to keep my $ in my pocket for mods. Last mod? New paint only covering gray.

I can tell you some of the rubber on the demo F3 belonging to CanAm never made it back to the trailer. Amazing how easy a burnout is on an F3....

I did buy one the same day so don't feel too bad for them:sour:

What is with Burnouts?

I have never understood the attraction to burnouts. The only thing a burnout tells me is that you have lost control of traction. Wasting tires and going no where does not impress me.

quite a few years ago.. I had a Yamaha V-Max that did burn outs like crazy... learned it was expensive...the rear tire was gone in no time..

Also very expensive if a vehicle is behind you & you spray it with gravel & they get your plate #.

clarification on burnouts

Interesting perspectives & numerous negative comments related to burnouts. I simply asked for machine set up & riding tips for effective burnouts; I take responsibility for not being clear about the context of the burnout. I'm asking for machine set up & tips for street or parking lot burnouts.

spinning the rear tire on take off. some two wheel guys hold the front brake and do it. Quit since I have to buy my own tires.

added wet surface, gravel and other slippy things can cause it to happen with bad results when tire catches.

In Oregon it is called "exhibition of speed", fine is over $1K and I think they can also seize the vehicle now. :banghead:
