• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does your Saddlebag need to be slammed to latch?

Hi all!
Riding a <1k miles 2023 F3-T, does anybody else have an issue where they have to slam the ever-loving sin out of their saddelbag doors in order to get it to latch? It's only the left bag for me, but I routinely have to blast the door closed like a freshly-grounded teenager in order for it to actually latch. Any solutions? I'm worried I'll wear something out if I keep at it like I am.

This has been a recurring issue with the saddlebags and trunk latches ... You may need to adjust the cable that operates it ..... but first try some DRY silicone spray ..... Mike :thumbup:. .....

I have a 2023 F3 LTD Special, I haven't had that problem with closing the saddlebags. I push gently on the saddlebag doors, to close them.

Question: is your left saddlebag overstuffed with items, which might cause it to not close, properly?

I normally keep my cover rolled up in it, but it's not overstuffed, and it requires slamming even when empty.
 
I just bought a new 2023 F3 Limited a couple of days ago and my cases don’t latch easily. I don’t slam them but I do have to give an extremely firm push go get them to latch. Mine are also empty (for now). I’ll probably try the silicon spray mentioned above to see if that helps.
 
A gentle push after the latch engages normally locks in place. Do not expect to just close without some gentle assist usually with the knee or hands. My 2020 RTL was that way and now the my 2022 F3L Limited although the F3L does have a better lock/latch system. Sometimes if closing with a slamming motion is worse and latch will not engage as easy as a more gentle closing motion.
 
These are sealed water tight compartments and have resistance because of that, They are not meant to be slammed shut, You have to just firmly push with force to close.
 
If the cable is routed anything like the RT, lay down and look up under the front of the bag and you should see the adjusting nuts: one is a lock nut, the other is a longer type nut that you Loosen or tighten.

I had slammer on mine till I found how easy it was to adjust them.
 
2024 Spyder RT S2S side compartment no longer latches. If it is an easy fix that I can do myself I'd be more than happy to give it a try, other than that I'll have to bring it to the dealer. I've read in these forums about people adjusting a cable or the latch somehow. Does anyone know how to fix the latch? It got progressively worse to the point where I was having to slam it to get it to close.

I found the adjustment screws but regardless of how far I rotated them up or down it didn't help. So this leads me to believe I may need to replace the mechanism. Just debating with myself as to whether or not to take the side compartment off. I'm thinking perhaps the mechanism got pushed out of place due to having to close it so hard to get it to latch, maybe it can be moved back into place and secured enough to latch?
 
I had this problem on my 2021 RTL. The right cable adjustment didn’t work because the steel wire core was rusted and broke. They came out with stainless steel cables to replace them with. I purchased and replaced both the left and right cables. I have an automotive repair background, so taking it apart was pretty much elementary. While I had mine all apart, I noticed that the latch was getting a little corroded too. It’s galvanized steel, and I took it off, scrubbed it up with some WD-40 and a small stiff nylon brush, and wiped it dry before applying some white silicone brake grease in a thin coat. I imagine if somebody really had a heavy hand, they could break the release handle to cable joint. It looked pretty rugged to me, and although my lid wouldn’t open, I never heavy handed the release pull lever. Is yours under warranty still? I know that the BRP BEST warranty doesn’t cover this part on my 2021.
 
I've had a side bag come open while on the freeway once before. Caught it before anything was lost. Since then, I have always given the side bag a medium rap with the heel of my hand to make sure it's latched. Only once since then have I found one not completely latched. I've done it so many times now that whacking the side bag door has become a habit. A safety habit.

That to me sounds like your latch mechanism needs a clean and lube like I did to mine. The way they designed it just doesn’t have any protection.
 
I have found on my 2022 and 2024 F3L side compartment doors when closing will not latch the first time is the latch cable did not fully return the latch and I just pull and release again on latch and then will close in a normal fashion.

Bought it brand new in February of 2025 from a Sierra Cycles in AZ which is about 300 miles west of where I live in Texas. I did buy an extended warranty. I believe they would work on it if I brought it over there. If it was a more serious issue I'd do that. I've got three other dealers within a 150 mile radius from where I live. I'm going to drive it over to the one closest to me this morning and see if they'll be able to promptly fix the latch. If they tell me they will but I'll have to leave it there for a few days I think I'll just bring it home and see if I can do as you've described above. The more I dig into these and other forums I'm realizing that most of these minor issues I'm most likely going to have to deal with on my own as opposed to having to leave my Spyder with a dealer for a period of time. I wonder what my chances are for them to at least provide me with the part? If I end up doing it myself I'll take pictures or video the process so I'll be able to show that I haven't voided my warranty through any work that I've done myself. Thank you for explaining what you did to fix yours that type of advice is golden. :)
