There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Does everyone with this new bike with the suede seat have blotches on the seat. Not sure if it's part of the way it looks

and a vibration at like in the seventy's range

Yes!

BRP...if you're reading this, how about a suggestion on a treatment of some type to restore the seat to its original condition?

If anyone else has luck with something, please post it.

Thanks!

Same here. Not sure if the look comes from a true variation in color or a visual variation due to the grain in the suede laying in many different directions...

me four

but it doesn't bother me. hmmmmmm not much seems to be bothering me these days. I'm sensing a theme. More riding, less bother.

This is kind of what it looks more like to me (the visual variation rather than a true color variation).

That is. . . . .

. . . . . the way it is supposed to look. I thought the same thing all of you did, that the leather on the seats surface was 'blotchy'. Turns out that is the way it is supposed to be. On the seat's description, they mention that it is sueded/texturized to help keep you butt from slipping around.

 So now we know!! Thanks!

I mentioned early on that there may be issues with suede leather as a seat covering for a seat on the F3. Rain will really put blotches on it, as well as mat down and stiffen the suede finish, so be aware.

I am an old leather merchant. Do not know of any product that will waterproof suede leather. We used to sell two items. A suede stone (used like an eraser to take off any unwanted marks. A suede brush to gently refurbish the sueded finish.

Suede leather is top grain (smooth) cowhide that has either been sanded down, or a "split" that comes off the original hide when they make the top grain to a specific thickness.

I like the looks, but there can be issues.

You will usually find a disclaimer tag on real leather items along the lines of..."leather is a natural item and therefore will have natural range markings or slight imperfections. This is not a sign of a defective product, but an assurance that you are getting genuine leather."

I agree . . .

. . . . but I don't think the F3-S seat is leather. ( the F3-S is a different seat from the standard "black" seat and the Cannonball )

I just went out and sprayed water on the seat and it just beaded up. No soaking in or discoloration - and I have also power washed it 2 times.

The "suede/texturized" area does feel different and it has a different 'knap' texture when you closely inspect it. But, while I am not leather expert, I don't think it is anything that comes from a cow - or directly anyway. It may be leather, but pressure treated with some sort of polymer. When you look under the seat, you can see that there is a woven (white) material foundation for the seat material and given that I don't see any real mention of genuine cowhide leather anywhere with seats - so I am voting Synthetic. I am OK with that.

I am attaching a screen shot of the seat detail from the BRP website. Though the catalogue ( page 58 ) shows the color variation better. On mine, it looks more "dappled" than "blotchy".

The BRP Web page describing the seat on the F3-S says black suede seat with red stitching. I note that they do not mention the word leather in the description. That makes the whole point moot with my discussion of actual sueded leather.

There are many "fake" suede products out there--consider "ultra suede" and the microfiber stuff they put on a lot of furniture today. They can be treated and will stand up much better than the "real" thing.

The fact that you can power wash your seat with no damage, speaks volumes that the product is not real leather. That was a good move for BRP. A whole lot less problems will be created.

Yes, BRP should give directions for care and upkeep of the new seat.

Thank you for your counterpoint.:yes:
