• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does this Belt Tensioner Idler Stabilizer Roller look familiar?

Troop, I just looked this up and of course AI provided this info. With that being said, Amazon said that Holigie IS the mfgr. I couldn't find any info on Holigie as a company. But I would't buy it. As a matter of fact I think I have a Lamonster garage one of these in my shed.

Holigie is a private-label storefront brand primarily found on major e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Ubuy, and Desertcart. They do not operate an independent corporate headquarters; rather, they function as a distributor/reseller of various imported, mass-produced tools, accessories, and household goods.

No doubt a Chinese knockoff. I have the Lamonster on mine.89114fc3-cbad-4369-afed-26a9767204db.jpg

Interesting when you do a little reasearch on products what you acutally find out. I read an article about sellling sites as to who distributes/mfgr products. I'm sure sellers like Lamonster and Baja Ron could if they wanted to have their stuff made off shore and make a killing. But to me they are honest people.

Ron, glad you are on top of this stuff. I just hope people don't go cheap. I saw a tow bar on facebook for sale $20. Ask who the mfg was. Some off the wall company brand. Of course I did not buy. Again, thanks to all for making sure we are safe.

The Chinese are masters of ripping off a design & making it look 99% the same while using extremely inferior materials and manufacturing to save money. They've been doing business that way for 100's of years.
I work for a North American Equipment Manufacturer. At Trade Shows they would come into our booth and take pictures of our machines and then have the balls to ask about certain parts. I would ask them to leave. They are great at copying others development.

R&D is expensive with no initial return on investment. It's all out of pocket expense. Then you have to develop a market for the product. Once you've done all of this, then you begin reaping profit which eventually overtakes the expense of development and you're in the green. The Chinese circumvent all of this, going right to the profit stage.

But the only way this works is if we buy the Chinese product. Which we do. In the end, the consumer is the reason the Chinese approach works so well. America could put an end to it today. And without any government intervention. But it gets crazier than this! China is purchasing a good deal of farmland in America. Along with land adjacent to some of our military bases.

When I used to fish tuna off the coast of San Diego, seals employed this same method. They would lounge near the boat and wait for us to catch and wear down the tuna. When we got the fish near the boat, the seals would simply swim up and bite of the tuna just behind the head. We'd reel in the worthless head, and the seals would get the meat. Worked out great for them.

China is an interesting place. On the one hand Chinese companies rip off technology from the US and the EU to make cheap copies.

On the other hand there are Chinese companies producing home grown state of the art technologies world class in their own right.

The former I think are due to an almost total lack of copyright and patent enforcement by the Chinese government. This leads to a Wild West in terms of copying and production of sub par products of dubious quality. You can outsource parts manufactured to the highest quality in China, the problem is there is little Chinese government prevention of those parts being ripped off from your contracted supplier.

On the other hand, China is capable of producing innovative and high quality products that are world class. This originates from a large number of highly educated people with an entrepreneurial spirit second to none. You only have to look at the field of optical engineering.

Of course, part of it is our own fault, our successive governments have failed to clamp down upon the inferior imports. All the time importers can make money from the flood of cheap copies and people are willing to buy the cheapest thing they can find the harder it is to prevent sub standard imports.

The result is most people not fishing! Everyone either pats through the nose for the tuna you do actually catch, does without the tuna, or settles for eating just the head?

I really feel this will be our future with the path were on.
