• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does the 2014 RT come with a Battery tender pigtail?

Not unless you install one. On the other hand, you can use your 12 volt power in your trunk to plug in a tender pigtail (that's the easiest). Just change your fuse to make that power outlet hot all the time.

The pigtail is generally part of the battery tender when you purchase it. My dealership installed a complementary one, Deltran Battery Tender Jr., with pigtail at no charge when I bought the Spyder. It is fused and I can use it to connect my emergency compressor if necessary.

As above, some dealers do and some don't. If not, my purchasing dealers always added one no $$.

I have had complimentary ones installed from the dealer on all six purchased. Five from one dealer and one from the other dealer. A nice touch IMO.

It's a 5 minute job to put a pigtail in yourself.

My next project is to put a plug for my heated riding gear in somewhere the dash switches go. I figure that fused pig-tail can do double duty and supply the heated gear when it's not in the garage on a maintainer. Jobs like these are 'when-I-get-around-tuit...

How will changing the fuse make it hot all the time.

Cos for one position, the power to the battery side of the fuse is keyed so it's only live with the key on; for the other postion, the power to the battery side of the fuse is direct & therefore permanently on! ;)

It's done specifically for the purpose of giving the owner the choice of having a keyed circuit available; or a 'hot all the time' circuit.

You are not just "changing a fuse", you are changing the location of the fuse.

The fuse in question can be moved from one location to another, as outlined in the owner's manual.

In one location, it is hot all the time, in the other location, it is switched with the key.

Got spyder home yesterday it had pig tail and new Yusa trickle charger.
Double check and make sure you are using the wrong term. You do not want to use a trickle charger. It will destroy the battery because a trickle charger sends a current all the time. If, as I suspect, you actually have a battery charger/maintainer then you're golden. They are commonly referred to as "battery tenders" which is a brand name. The charge current rating should be no more than 4 amps. The maintainer part keeps the battery charged up by sending a charge current only when the battery charge level drops.

Because of the significant difference in the operation and affect of a trickle charger vs. battery maintainer we like for owners to be clear they understand the difference.
