There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Does anyone use a Tank Bag on a RT or ST

Title kind of says it all...coming from the 2 wheel world and it will be quite an adjustment not have a tank bag accessible.

Yeah..!!

although I have an RS they are similar to the ST. I do use a nelson riggs tank bag when traveling. They work fine no different to the two wheelers. Depends on how big and how they attach. They magnetic ones don't work...no metal:roflblack:

Like Chupaca, I use a Nelson Riggs one.

The see through map pocket will not fit a AAA map without destroying it. My map of PA did not last a week with the constant refolding to make it fit. The Velcro attachment at the steering head is also a pain to put on each morning at the hotel. I have a larger tankbag I use on my 2 wheeler but the RS/GS/ST models don't have much room.

I always kind of thought that a tank bag would get in the way of steering the bike; how much clearance is there? :dontknow:

I have the Nelson Riggs tank bag, as well, on my 2009 RS (it's in my signature pic). I haven't had any problems with it and I leave it on 24/7. I don't keep anything in it worth any value when she's parked somewhere.

This picture show it better:

I had tank bags on both the 2008 and 2009 GS/RS models. Found they would not work on the RT because of the built in compartment.

However, I like the space and map pocket that was on the BRP version. The BRP tank bag is featured on page 107 of the Accessories catalog. Price is still $109.99--I believe what I paid for them way back when.

No interference with steering.

I also had one Passenger seat bag--same page. $139.99.

Here are the 2008/2009 with tank bags attached.

I use the Hopnel Mini Tank Bag, made specifically to fit on the glove box of an RT. It's small, but carries the stuff I need to get my hands on without getting out of the saddle.

For the types of things that I used to carry in a tank bag I now have a set of 3 pouches mounted by Velcro above the instrument cluster.I think they were originally made for a Harley windshield. My eyes are not good enough to read a map down on a tank bag any more so I carry it in my jacket pocket or some other easily accessible area and only check it when I stop for gas.

I still have the Nelson Rigg tank bag from my 09 GS. It does not fit on my ST. No matter how many people say it will it does not.

I just ordered the same bag to try on my 2014 RT. I know it's not built for it but I'll give it a try. I do think it'll be tight when I am doing very slow, tight turns, such as when backing out of my garage. But we'll see. Worth a shot for $35 on Amazon.

My plan is actually use it as a spot for my pup to sit in while riding. Unzip the top and put him in. Again, we'll see. I'll post a thread when I try.

TANK BAGS....?

TANK BAGS come in all sizes and shapes...
be creative... search the web and stores... use your imagination... you'll find something....
i did... for both my RS & my new F3-S.....

Not to TOOT my own horn, but I have a REAL NICE, electrified Nelson-Rigg for sale in the want ads.

2008 GS with Nelson Rigg bag. Love it. I like the clear map pocket. I place my phone there when using the GPS. I simply have a bluetooth in my ear for turn by turn directions..and when I stop I can remove a glove and be able to use the touch screen on my Galaxy S5 through the clear panel without removing the phone.
I leave it on, and as mention not much in there when parked in a public place.
I highly recommend it.

Awesome! Just verifying...is that the Nelson Riggs bag? I assume so. Mine should be here this week. Can't wait to give it a try as you've shown.

Thanks!!
