• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does Anybody have...

Backrest pdf

Bob, I think your gonna like your new addition. I wasnt able to find my instructions, actually I don't remember if it came with any either??

Regardless, the install is 4 screws, and removing the seat insert cover with a small Philips. The bracket only fits in the right direction. Install the 4 screws and poof your done. I can send pics if needed, but you won't.

Four bolts? I saw where two of them go...
If it's that easy; I'm pretty sure that a couple of us can sort it all out!
(See you in a week!)

Passenger seat backrest

Bob,
Your gonna need a cutting torch and a magnesium welder:shocked: Unless you wanna be a cheapskate & just use a torq screwdriver :-)

Picture looking under my seat

Yes, the title is correct.....

Here is a rear facing view of the underside of my seat Bob. The four black torx screws are the ones I was referring to.

Thanks! I hadn't seen those two screw holes at the rear of the seat! :2thumbs:

Another question: does that "plug" on the seat, pop out from the front side; or the rear? :dontknow:

I'll check tomorrow

I don't remember to be honest. I'll check the plug tomorrow and let you know. I seem to recall it has three tabs that are not in any particulat order that mattered.

Just pry it loose from one side and then it comes out easy, KEEP THE PLUG. Nice thing about the BRP backrest is that you have to raise the seat in order to remove the backrest.

How is the jerky order coming??

I'll order it on Thursday, and have it sent to the hotel...

(Or would it be easier to send it to your house, and have you throw it in your trailer? )

UPDATE: I got the BRP backrest installed, and it actually feels pretty darn good! :2thumbs:
As of right now; I don't think that I'll need to buy the kit that allows for some adjustment to it... :D
Total time to remove it from one bike, and mount it in mine: twenty-five minutes!
(Pictures tomorrow...)

Pictures...

This is actually a really easy piece to add to the bike!
Once you lay a towel down, (to prevent hardware losses into "The Void"...); it's a matter of bolting the bracket to the bottom of the seat in the only spot that's available for it. The Torx head screws are (I think) the same size heads, as the ones that hold the Bumpskid on.

The only part of this that had me stumped? :opps: I eventually figured out that you have to push on the latching mechanism, to allow it to slide into place.
I like the idea that it locks solidly onto the bike, and I'm looking forward to breaking it in on the trip West! :2thumbs:
