Does a leaky Elka rear shock have to be shipped to them?

it looks like my problematic elka has leaked out and I am on just springs after 6000 miles/1 1/2 year.
I ordered it directly from elka with my specs but was bottoming out right out of the box and didn't function well from the start even after adjusting it and their tech wasn't much of a help.

anywho, does it HAVE to be shipped to elka for rebuild or can any shock/suspension shop do it?

Lamonster is a dealer and repair shop I believe; you could call them and ask if they rebuild them! They are a sponsor on the front page of this site. Good luck

If you have a local shop, by all means take it there and see if they can help you out. Shock and strut shops are not that plentiful like gas stations and tire shops in most areas. Good Luck, .....:thumbup:...Bill

I would think most reputable suspension shops could fit new seals and recharge the nitrogen.

It's located in Vegas, so Me thinks, you can get your shock refurbished overthere

Any local suspension shop should be able to get the parts. There is nothing unique to their design. Several years ago my Elka front shocks started leaking. I first contacted Elka in Canada and at that time they only had a single shop in the US that was an authorized repair center. I called him and he was so busy it was going to be at least six months to get it done. Not acceptable. So, then I found a local motorcycle suspension guy who was more than capable of doing the work. He sourced the parts from Elka directly, did the repairs and it was done is less than 3 weeks.
