• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Do you think I have a problem on the horizon?

Just a tidbit from one of my college classes.

Week 1: Student misses first day of class.

Week 2: Same Student sends me an e-mail saying he could not find the town of Eagle River, where classes are held. (Its 15 miles N of Anchorage. They even show it on all maps.)

Week 3: Same student misses class again. This time he says he was involved in a minor vehicle crash on the way to class.

Of course he wants me to let him make up any quizzes and homework assignments that were missed in the three weeks of missed classes.

This is an adult student.

Stick a fork in him ; he's done! :gaah:
Let him become his OWN problem. Explain that his lack of concern about attending the class is impacting the ability of the other students to focus on what matters...
Then tell him to get lost for good!

Ask for a copy of the accident report and ask to look at his cell phone call and text logs.

I use the trust but verify method. In over 15 years of teaching, there are not many excuses that I have not heard.

Could not find the town is a new one though. :roflblack:

I do ask for accident reports, emergency room paperwork, funeral programs, etc. where I deem necessary.

Is his name "Lil' Johnny"?

Always got great excuses for being in trouble.

We often joke about him... ;-)

Class Clown just like George Carlin was, "Here's Johnny"...

Old joke on excuses. remember old, no cell phones
four girls decide it is to nice a day to be in class, Take off for a day in the country after lunch. Next day in class, They tell the teacher they had a flat tire coming back from lunch. Teacher says okay, you can make up the quiz after school. After school, he seats each of them in a different corner of the room, then asks, which tire ???

That's silly...

The flat one, of course... Was the correct answer...

And so they all passed, What a dumb teacher... ;-)

Never forget the time I had my algebra finals. Half of the test was a take home, and the other was a two hour in-class test. The day of the class (test) there was a fire in the mountain pass, and the freeway was closed. I called my teacher, and asked if I could fax in my test. This way I would only lose half of the credit. I am just glad the fire was on the news, so she emailed me the questions, and let me fax in both parts.

I tell you those extra two hours I used sure helped :ohyea: Ended up getting the highest grade on that final in the class.

Wait..!!

that last statement.."this is an adult student" did you check and verify the adult part...?? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: if he missed the first three weeks...have you ever seen him..?? :roflblack:

On a quarter system he already missed 30% of the classes. On the semester it is 16 2/3%.

Either flunk him or let him drop.

I ALWAYS let them make up missed assignments and tests. if I didn't, NO ONE would pass! But not the SAME assignments and tests!
