• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Do the 08s and 09s have fewer issues?

about 2 years ago I bought my 2008 GS used with 6K on it it now has almost 20K
I was very uninformed when I bought mine I have been riding motorcycles for over
58 years and my wife said to get something that don't tip over so I did the Spyder thing
and not having my GoldWind made into a trike.
Since I got mine I have had NO TROUBLE with any heat issues, codes or anything else
however I have added a ton of mods to it to make it more useful to me and my wife
I do my own service on it change tires align the belt and anything else that comes up
but if a code pops up I will take it to the dealer. Asfor the RT's I am playing the waiting game
to see what goes on with the 2014's so far it looks like they have a winner.
I have no plans to sell my 08 I want to see it still going with 100K

Great offer

Too bad I live a long ways from you, up here in Canada. And presently only have the stock seat on my RS-S. Perhaps in the near future, I could order a seat and have it customized.

Thanks for the kind gesture.

08 RS

Looking for feedback on service related issues on the original 08 and 09 Spyders

I've read here that the early models were less problematic. That the relative simplicity was actually a good thing. True?
The only problem I had with my 2008 GS/RS the brackets from the rear fender broke off. I get some heat from the engine on the side by your legs.I put wings across the engine vents that has helped.

09

i know this is an old post... but it looks like people are still interested....

well, mine is an
'09 RS SE5.....
i've had the steering replaced because of a recall... oil seal replaced... 2 front tires and i'm on my 3rd rear tire, last 2 being the KUMHO... Fronts are KUMHO's as well...
other than the above, i have had
ZERO issues in the 41,000 miles that are now on my SPYD3R.....

i think we need more people to post on SL the
POSITIVES of our rides... we see/read far too many NEGATIVE post, and people who are thinking of buying a SPYD3R may move on to another type of vehicle if they only read negative comments.... i for one am EXTREMELY HAPPY :2thumbs: with my SPYD3R and hope that when BRP comes out with the 1330 in the RS, that i have as good of luck with that one as i'm having with this one.....
