There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Do people remove the Splash Pans & leave off? Any negatives?

Just curious, do people remove the splash pans and leave them off? I understand that it helps reduce heat and makes oil changes a little easier. Any negatives for riding without the splash pans on?

It was a big help " heat-wise " for the V-Twin engine..... and except for the 2013 1330 models, all 1330 engine spyders run pretty cool .... removing those pans allow for a lot more debris and grime on the engine .... which will actually making cooling them more difficult .....JMHO .... If you hate your mechanic, go ahead and leave them off, because your bike will accumulate A LOT more dirt, grime, mud, opossum, etc. than if you leave them on. If you don't believe me, go ahead and crawl underneath your car and find out.

They are there for a reason, not just to keep trash out, but to aid in cooling as well.

I drilled several 2 1/2" holes in the pans of my previous 2013 ST-S.
The improved airflow reduced the heat under the seat significantly.
No noticeable change in dirt & grime collection.
I would do it again.

I've had mine off for about a year. I wish I would get mud on the underside, cus that would mean we got rain. I don't worry to much about that stuff living in the desert. And yes, it does help with air flow to keep the heat down.

Mine have been off since Ann suggested it. It sure made a difference intown in this lovely southern heat we have. Then when I did the cat delete I thought I had gone to heaven. Thought about sticking them back on for the winter when I could use a little heat rising. Have not noticed a build up of crud, maybe all the rain we get keeps it washed off. Off for over 20,000 miles
