Also worth considering is the newer helmets with the pump and bladder that pushes the helmet off the head, rather than pulling it off. These also have cheek pads that are quick remove.

link to this http://www.onabike.com. The question comes to mind for the right place to mount? On or above visor on front? Assuming EMT's /first responders would have you on your back.... If its an accident, you may be up in tree or underneath another vehicle then what?!

I like this one! Also most high end helmets have the emergency quick remove cheek pads! It pays to spend a little money to buy a helmet with these safety measures built in. You won't find this technology on the el Cheapo Bilt helmet!

Yes, my Bell Moto 9 Carbon has cheek pads secured by molded mating dimples and magnets. I did not purchase the pump and bladder setup to push the helmet off the head, but probably should.

Agree there is a lot of difference between low end and high end helmets. Regardless, a low end helmet is still superior to know helmet.

CERT team members are also trained to leave helmets in place and maintain c-spine. And all riders should know to keep on as well, and they don't. If they are still conscious they should tell whoever jumps in to leave it on. The problem is people go down and they get embarrassed and just want to jump up to their feet and be ok, and people around are only too willing to assist with that. When I took the MSF course someone went down in a curve, I was at the other end of course and didn't see it but when I turned around and shouted to them to keep person on ground but was too late, they helped him up and walked him to car. Turns out he had broken ankle and walking on it made it much worse. If they only left in place until could be evaluated...
